Auturgy replied to Ahmed Desoky's discussion What is the best single board computer and autopilot for fixed wing UAV? Without cost limitation
"I suggest dropping in to gitter.im/Ardupilot/VisionProjects and asking the guys in there. For computer vision tasks an odroid xu4 or nvidia tx1/tx2 might be necessary - although it really depends on your setup and specific cv implementation."

Auturgy commented on SkyDrone.aero's blog post Sky Drone FPV 2 - Long Range 1080p FPV Video + Command & Control - now available for USD 299.-
"The spec sheet I linked above mentions configuration over wifi, so combined with the physical layout I'd say this is almost certainly a Pi3. Good news for Mark, as lighter cases are readily available. I'm curious as to why they've…"

"@John, I think you overestimate but honestly hope you are right.  My guess based on specs, images, and sale pitch deflections is that you'll find that this is a readily available single board computer with USB camera, in a nice black case,…"

"@Marc I'd be confident that any 1080p30 h.264 native (ie 2mp USB camera with onboard h.264) UVC camera would have similar performance, and I doubt that the software would even know it was a different camera.  A higher resolution camera,…"

"Ok, sales pitch statements. I'm still not convinced that this is any better than what is easy to do with cheap readily available hardware running free software. I'd be interested to hear your average and maximum latency(end to end) - you…"

Auturgy replied to Matto Godoy's discussion Serial 5 not working
"Serial 5 is the nuttx console, you'd need to disable it to use for something else. CANBus for some peripherals might be worth you looking into, to free uart's"

Auturgy replied to Ethan's discussion Should I use PX4 flight control stack or the APM 3.3 for Pixhawk?
"Having used both, I'd suggest that the only reasons to use px4 are: 1. You are paid to; or 2. You want to make proprietary changes. Performance, functionality and support is simply so much better with Ardupilot - but the goals and attitudes of…"

Auturgy commented on Bart Theys's blog post Which one has the highest range: VTOL, helicopter, multi-rotor (or flying squirrel?)
"@Bart - just a comment relevant to your Total Flight Efficiency.  Don't use it as a design input for multirotors.  The resultant aircraft would be unstable in even light winds.  Also, your assumption that L/D for a multirotor…"
