"Max AFIK. This guide is for the Phantom 1. I'm currently converting my Phantom 2 to APM, but there are some differences The main one is that the Phantom 2 receiver outputs SBUS protocol not PPM (on the Phantom 1), so you need a converter is…"

"Thanks David, It looks like the P2 ESC boards are a bit more complex. I may need to reconnect the Naza and try to debug the signals that end up on the wires going to the ESC / Led boards. I've cross posted the same question to a few other…"

"Hi Roger, I made my ArduPhantom from spare parts, no conversion, so I never had an actual Phantom LED. I used regular LEDs from Radio Shack, wired directly to the APM's LED pins with a voltage drop resistor on each."

"Hi Kumaresan, I'm not familiar with the Arduplane code, but it seems like it should be possible. To see the changes that make up SplineNav you can go on GitHub and do a compare between SplineNav 0.4 and Arducopter 3.1. That will show you each…"

"Hi Roger, No, I did not calibrate the stock Phantom ESCs, the stock calibration seems to work fine. However you'll probably need to increase MOT_SPIN_ARMED and THR_MIN to something like 175 to 185. Regards, David "

"Yes, I've seen plenty of videos already, it's what started this whole thread after all. Also, the problem I'm having is mainly behind trees; flying behind buildings isn't as bad."

"I'm using Circular Wireless SPW12 antennas on both Tx and Rx. Unless I want to go far instead of flying around close to myself, then I use the Circular Wireless HELIAXIAL12 on the Rx side."

David Dewey replied to mark's discussion How is this guy getting this FPV range/ battery time? in the group ArduCopter User Group
"I guess it's possible, but considering that it works just fine behind small buildings and it works fine at large distances, I don't think it's a setup issue. The reason it doesn't work flying behind trees is that all the trunks…"

New SplineNav 0.3: Smoother Yaw, and Manual Yaw Override

Posted on October 30, 2013 at 4:30am 31 Comments

After a few months of hard work, SplineNav 0.3 is now ready to fly! This SplineNav release started with the goal of simply reducing the yaw jitter issues of SplineNav 0.2, but in the end it turned into a major rewrite of the code.

New Features:

  • Smoother Yaw: Updates x and y spline derivative calculations faster, in a separate loop, for a more precise yaw control. Uses a fast…

New SplineNav Version 0.2 on a 63 km/h Tour of Chinese Lotus Pond

I've now finished coding up SplineNav version 0.2. It's almost a complete rewrite from version 0.1. Besides flying smoother and using processor resources more efficiently, it now restricts maximum speed to prevent lag. For example, if you're flying fast into a strong headwind, then altitude may…
