George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"Note that you can also get the tune values from the log file from an incomplete autotune.

Note also you can tie up your quad so it can only rotate on one axis and can't hit anything and adjust parameters that way."

"Just keep in mind that upside down props still thrust the same direction as right side up props.  Just less efficiently."

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"Not upside -down - just swap 2 wires so they rotate the wrong way.  I did my testing by hooking the ESC's directly to the receiver and testing just one at a time and holding the copter arm in one hand while playing with the throttle with the other…"

"I think the wind may be affecting your barometer more than anything else.  A little wind can really mess up the barometer if it isn't protected from the wind."

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"I and P always get the same value when you do autotune.  Not sure why but that's how it is written.

Also You want everything on your copter to be stiff - nothing that can wobble.  So never hang something on a string below the copter.  I learned…"

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"Well if it *does* fail my suggested test that would be great news and you might be able to adjust the ESC modules (mine are programmable by toggling the throttle and listening to the crazy beep patterns.  Or you might want to get new ones.  But if…"

"Mathieu - try connecting your receiver directly to your ESC module and while holding the copter down safely use your transmitter to move the motor from full off to full on back and forth very quickly, pause at different speeds and make sudden and…"

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"Conveniently in the post above your post shows where those values go.  RPGain goes in the P and I values for the Rate box for either roll or pitch depending which axis it was working on (take the final values before it switched to the next axis).  I…"

George Roberts replied to Roger Church's discussion Terminal not working in Mission Planner with a APM 2.6 board
"If you want to download a log file you can do it on the "graphs" page now.

If you want to change what is logged you can do it in config/tuning (search for "mask" among parameters)."

It seems like I saw some posts that showed screenshots from some datalog analyzer other than the one built into apm planner.  I googled around and found one but I thought I saw a different one in a post.Could someone please list datalog analyzer…

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter-3.2 beta testing
"Can you test by using a house fan or something indoors and see if it affects the altitude reading as you manually rotate the copter at different angles to the wind?"

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"So I got it figured out.  The main thing seems to be that when my controls on my transmitter are completely centered they tend to put out a signal of around 1466 instead of 1499.  So I had to trim it all to be happy for the apm software.  I wish the…"

"I take it back. I *did* do the radio calibration step.  So maybe I should calibrate the transmitter instead?  It seems to be a crappy quality transmitter - turnigy 9x - $40 included transmitter and 8ch receiver.  The yaw joystick needs constant…"

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"Ah!  When I upgraded to 3.2 it seemed to have remembered all the parameters so I didn't do the radio calibration again.  I'll do that before I fly it again!  It remembered the gyro calibration.  Don't know why it lost the radio calibration.  Thanks…"

George Roberts replied to Randy's discussion AC-3.1 autotune support discussion
"I had to add bit 16 to the log I think.  Anyway I got two ATUN events this time.  When I first switched to autotune it definitely rolled hard (in a perfect, controlled, safe way) and then did one more 16 seconds later and then never again.  The wind…"
