Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Full Solo launch video
"Very nice video (but not Ridley Scott, Chris: Stanley Kubrik--2001: A Space Odyssey)."

Kevin Breen commented on Gary Mortimer's blog post Humm this all looks familiar inside
"Nice module but ... "Clarity is not certified . . ." so it's VFR only and can't be used as a primary guidance. A good start though."

Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Details on how Iran may have used a GPS override spoof to capture US drone
"Here's a paper (.pdf-there's that Adobe Reader again!) on GPS spoofing:

Doesn't look like it's that easy to do. We'll probably never find out what really happened (I still suspect it came…"

Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Awesome manned electric multicopter takes off, crashes
"I would also suggest talking with your local EAA chapter (if you haven't already) to learn how to conform to  FAA Part 103 rules and regs for your craft, insurance coverage, etc. They have a lot of practical experience and knowledge in that area."

Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Awesome manned electric multicopter takes off, crashes
"Brad,

My comment wasn't meant to disparage your piloting skills. The airframe looks light enough to meet Part 103 and those licensing requirements. Without the classic rotorcraft controls it could be much easier to fly, but hasn't been certified…"

Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Awesome manned electric multicopter takes off, crashes
"It's a very interesting project and I wish you success in the next attempt.  It may be too complex if you mean to put it into commercial production. Tethering the aircraft for initial testing might be a good idea as suggested elsewhere. Since you…"

Kevin Breen commented on Pierre Lannoy's blog post OpenSailor: wind and sun as engines!
"A very interesting project Pierre! I'll be interested in seeing how programming handles sail trim and reefing (physically with motors, I know, but programming the autopilot could be difficult (as in situation like "in irons", with the bow into the…"

Kevin Breen commented on Russell B. Sutton's blog post Key Chain CAM
"Russel and Chris,

Happy to be of help. I've got 3 keychain cams, #3,6,&7. The 3 & 6 are good and the 7 can be tweeked via software settings to make it "acceptable". I haven't had the money to try one of the "hi Def" keychains yet."

Kevin Breen commented on Russell B. Sutton's blog post Key Chain CAM
"Chuck Lohr's website at : http://chucklohr.com/808/ has lots of info about keychain ("808") cameras. There are around 12 different models with wildly different specs and quality. He also has info on camera mods and software.

Kevin Breen commented on Duane Brocious's blog post What does the FAA consider "commercial"
"The FAR referred to is pertaining to pilots and pilot licensing. The aircraft itself is licensed in either a "normal"  or "experimental" category in the US: there's no specific "commercial" or "recreational" license for the aircraft itself.…"

Kevin Breen replied to Jason's discussion DIY Camera Trigger
"Here's a youtube video of a camera trigger for the "808 keychain camera". It might work with some modification for your camera. It's just a simple 555 IC timer with relay to trigger the camera. I think the interval is adjustable. There are probably…"

Kevin Breen commented on Chris Anderson's blog post UHF RC range extender
"Any CB activity should be AM or SSB (single side band). CB activity has slowed a lot but you might still find some guys running (illegally, of course) a 1 Kilowatt linear amp that "splatters" all over the band if you're close enough. I'm not sure…"

Kevin Breen commented on Duane Brocious's blog post RC Terrorism: The Next Wave?
"Unfortunately many of this guy's readers will take him seriously. Most people (even our beloved TSA and Dept of Homeland Securtiy)  prefer to believe in "hollywood" terrorist plots and "security theater" while the real plots have recently…"
