About Me:

I have been designing, building and flying UAV's, quadcopters etc since 2010. I enjoy designing all kinds of things.

Proficient in Solidworks, 3D printing, CNC CAD/CAM, arduino, some programming, spatial data, Unreal Engine.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I design high-end aircraft/payloads and software / hardware systems, was one of the first to get a quadcopter to fly for more than an hour. I have designed a number of commercial and consumer systems out there.

Tim Lucas replied to Monroe Lee King Jr's discussion Team Prometheus X12A Spaceplane in Ardupilot Space Program
"Yeah orbit is a whole milestone of it's own compared with getting up to space, as you stated, I have spoken with people about the feasibility of low cost space exploration as well, you will always get those who won't see it, everything is a…"

Tim Lucas replied to Monroe Lee King Jr's discussion Team Prometheus X12A Spaceplane in Ardupilot Space Program
"Thanks!
Simply awesome!
Good to see people doing these kind of projects in a serious manner at a lower budget!
are you intending on achieving LEO eventually or just sounding?
Taking off from a Zero Pressure Balloon effectively, could definitely cut…"

Do you have any pics or additional material? I would be really interested to know more about it what you are doing.
Good Luck!

Tim Lucas replied to Joe Edgar's discussion Video Device
"Depends on your local radio frequency requirements,
For Australia,  5.8GHz for video, 2.4GHz for TX, 900Mhz for Telemetry is the best combo,
Look up US requirements or alternatives for these frequencies, I think 900Mhz there is swapped with 433Mhz…"

Tim Lucas commented on Adrián Nagy Hinst's blog post All-in-one portable "ground station" was born in Hungary....
"Hi Adrian, this is a very good idea, and nice work too...
Integrating it with an android APP which computerised its functionality more, would be pretty cool as a next step.
Not sure if I would dismiss it as a product, I use controllers $1000 or more…"

Tim Lucas replied to Mike Mac's discussion APM vs. PX4 – what to get?
"Hmm...
If you are judging an autopilot by how pretty it looks or put off by being able to see the circuit board, perhaps take up knitting instead...
All jokes aside...
A simple comparison and understanding of specs will give you a pretty good…"

"This is cool but I think a quad design still beats it for stability and mechanical simplicity,  but cool project for sure."

Tim Lucas commented on fibrewire's blog post Variable Pitch Quad Rotor - M/UAV
"I am quite aware of how these systems work as I have a couple of them sitting in the other room, also conventional helicopter systems, having studied aviation and also worked on real choppers
Please note: be it a collective pitch quad or a fixed…"

Tim Lucas commented on fibrewire's blog post Variable Pitch Quad Rotor - M/UAV
"If you sit on this thing during test flights like Ritchie is saying then yes you would be a fool, Common sense tells me you will fly it as a UAV first though,  I know some guys that are going to fly a Gyrocopter as a UAV.
Your control system/ Gyros…"

Tim Lucas commented on fibrewire's blog post Variable Pitch Quad Rotor - M/UAV
"Basically what ritchie is saying is pretty much the same message I was trying to give,
Likely hood of getting this thing properly calibrated and working the way you want on the first shot is unlikely, as a wide knowledge base of the electrics and…"
