earthpatrol commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Background on the amazing Intel drone swarm demo at the Olympics
"@Nikola the pathing is derived from whatever 3D modeling environment they're using. You too can build a 3D light bright with an open source 3D modeling tool such as Blender. Check out particle paths/meshes. Once you have your model and simulation,…"

earthpatrol commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Background on the amazing Intel drone swarm demo at the Olympics
"Future headline: "10,000 drones fall from sky when power to network servers fail." Intel seems to be more focused on marketing rather than innovation. It's hard to respect an organization that has so many resources when they use digital "smoke and…"

earthpatrol commented on Aldo Vargas's blog post Drone following a roomba
"For those that want to develop their own version of this, Open CV is your friend. Literally, an afternoon of coding, if you have all the hardware. No need for deep learning either if you're simply using unique shape/color objects to detect a target."

earthpatrol commented on Dmitry Skotnikov's blog post Our next significant step to build wireless power network for unlimited drone delivery
"Hi Dmitry, I'm curious to how many different UAV designs you have tested with your system and how you verify there isn't any interference based on wiring, PCB design, etc...? I would love to see an autonomous aircraft approach your system, charge…"

earthpatrol commented on Dmitry Skotnikov's blog post Our next significant step to build wireless power network for unlimited drone delivery
"Interesting idea. I'm guessing you will need to shield any conductive components since you are injecting the entire craft into a magnetic field. Maybe instead of using inductive magnetic fields, a laser based charging system might work.…"

earthpatrol commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Boeing's Insitu uses swarms of Solos for autonomous mapping
"Insitu makes its profits by supplying the military industrial complex. Not even close to DIY anything. I guess killing machines are becoming less profitable. Next up, Precision Ag ......... Alert: intruder in the potato field."

earthpatrol commented on earthpatrol's blog post Was it Live or was it Memorex?
"It would have been nice if they just made a commercial about the challenges of getting hundreds of robots to collaborate and show that instead of trying to dupe the audience into thinking it was part of a live, real-time event. They opened the roof…"

"Hi Marc Dornan,
Here's a link to the wiki page that describes the semantics and syntax of flight plans as used in Paparazzi UAV:Flight Plans
Included in the page is the discussion of waypoints. Here's the link to that section:

earthpatrol commented on Alex's blog post Nimbus racing drone – full body carbon fiber monocoque on INDIEGOGO
"That looks great. Nice design. I'm curious about some of the physical dynamics related to heat and vibration. Do you have data related to a working prototype of your design? Does it stay cool internally? Are you able to isolate vibration to a level…"
