About Me:

42 yr old Englishman living in NC. I drive a truck for a living, but am an absolute nerd and maker. I love making, breaking, repairing and figuring stuff out. Not new to the R/C world, but new to Multirotors and drones.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

My wife bought me a UDI R/C on my birthday and I loved it. I fly it every day. I've now made an x-alien F450 and recently updated it with a Pixhawk and GPS. Still working this drone stuff out and loving the adventure!!!

I ask, because I had the same issue with my setup. My tx/rx supports PPM, but…"

Doug commented on Chris Lovett's blog post A few tips for the APM Mission Planner
"Setting up my flight mode switches, the very first thing I did was set a panic switch with RTL because my very first (non-autonomous) drone resulted in me having to ask my 18 year old neighbor "Please can you help me get my drone out of that tree"…"

Doug replied to Doug's discussion Calculating COG
"Thank you James.I actually just realized that in my frame plates are screw holes in a circle that run along the longitudinal and lateral lines of COG. Should've noticed that before! But, thanks for the info, still handy to know :)"

Ok, so, basic question, what's the most effective way of calculating or gauging your crafts center of gravity.I want to find that point so I can balance my quad properly. I have an X style frame, so I would figure that, front to back, the COG would…

Here's a link to a video I did explaining how to set up Flight Modes on your Aux switches on the FS-I6. This should also work with the Turnigy TGY-I6.When I looked around the net I couldn't find an explanation on this particular RX, so I hope this…

Doug replied to Doug's discussion Connecting my motors to pixhawk
" I had the craft completely stripped down ready for the pixhawk re-build. I needed the landing gear down, so I connected an ESC to the receiver (channel 2 or 3 I think) and plugged the battery in and the ESC started smoking right away and was dead…"
