Richard Jacobs replied to Graham Mann's discussion Iris+ with GoPro in Case in IRIS
"Very good question: I think many would prefer to use the protection that comes with a Go-pro Camera. Even if you crash on land, the camera is what typically takes the brunt of the force."

Richard Jacobs replied to Dave Bar's discussion Video cable for GoPro Hero 4 in IRIS
"I am going to install my FPV from 3DR this weekend and I am using the Hero 4 silver. Before I open the box, can anyone provide any input on what makes compatiblle? Some folks seem to have no troubles, others claim the Hero4 will not work with 3DR's…"

Richard Jacobs replied to Dave Bar's discussion Video cable for GoPro Hero 4 in IRIS
"Here's the response I received from 3DR. I purchased, but haven't had time yet to even unbox it. I'd like to hear how successful anyone's been with the Hero4 and 3DR's FPV:

Richard Jacobs replied to Dan McKenna's discussion Lubrication..every 6 flights? in IRIS
"That's good info, but it doesn't state what type of oil.WD40 can harm bearings; it's so thin it can wash-out existing oil. Higher viscosity oils can gum up, especially in the cold and collect debris."

Richard Jacobs replied to Richard Jacobs's discussion First Crash - looking for input in IRIS
"Here's a very short video from Droneshare. It appears the iris+ immediately went the opposite direction (and never really headed out over the ice, as the mission planned).

Richard Jacobs replied to Richard Jacobs's discussion Tarot Repair do-able? in IRIS
"Thanks for the link.
50% chance at wiring a $230 device incorrectly, seems risky. There must be a way to determine which way they go?"

Richard Jacobs replied to Richard Jacobs's discussion Tarot Repair do-able? in IRIS
"Not afraid to solder, but I am wondering how those wires pin out? They're not marked or colored.
Also, where is there a good source online for these types of connectors?
Thanks!"

Would this offer more info that the logs I've attached (which were downloaded from the Iris using APM)?"

Richard Jacobs replied to Richard Jacobs's discussion First Crash - looking for input in IRIS
"I trashed all the waypoints on DroidPlanner prior to sending a new mission. I drew a simple splined plan heading south over the ice. I did a "SEND" Mission. I switched to AUTO (from Loiter) and gave a little throttle. Iris+ head for way-point 2…"

Richard Jacobs replied to David Cox's discussion Tarot Gimbal and protecting GoPro lens
"I just installed the Layerlens as well for the Tarot 2d. I've also placed adhesive-velcro (industrial 3M stuff) to bind the strap of the layer lens to the gimbal backside (to prevent he gopro from sliding out sideways)."

Richard Jacobs commented on AKRCGUY's blog post Tarot 2D Brushless Gimbal Installation and Review
"For the price, this is a great value and works well. Shooting video with the Tarot offers much more stable shots, than a directly mounted camera.3 out of 5 stars due to the horrible way the Tarot 2D mounts the Go-pro. It requires an allen wrench…"
