Most arducopter run on 3S batts that have 11.1 Volts. USB is about 5V. Why not just get an HK 3S pack that already has XT-60…"

A battery swap would be a better option if you "need" to get back on the field quickly whereas, you are right, a better solution…"

Never think about it but if you look to swappable hard drives............
Inductive charging could also handy if you build a fully autonomous bot.

QUAD ground landing plateform mechanical assistance
On board SWAPPER mechanical concept characteristics
Ground SWAPPER mechanical concept charactéristics.
SWAPPER Electrical battery transfer contact and electronic noise reducer.
Mobile QUAD landing platform concept
FPV navigation support.
So there it is.
The project have attracted some interest since we have began.
Mainly for K3, K4 and K5 kids that need's to be remotivated in completing there grades.
With a major public organisation the project is being transform into a strategy to prevent drop out using drones and the associated technology.
It goes under the name off Drones motivation camp. and is due to start on January 2013.
As for the SWAPPER, we are now talking with 2 engeneering firms as for the ardware aspects.
