North Liberty is between Coralville and Cedar Rapids. I have a DX7 and just ordered the 500mw amplifier. Is you mod still working well and are there any other things I should know that isn't mentioned on the Forum.
Works great, I flew my pocket combat wing with it yesterday. I added a -10db attenuator during DX-7 storage, I remove the low power antenna when stored in travel case as it won't fit when installed, I place attenuator on sma connector when antenna is off, I do this as I have left power on or it turns on when something shifts in case. When power is on with no antenna it can burn up a transmitters output amplifier! I can use it to reduce power into 500 mw amp also. You can just leave an antenna on all the time too. Or use a 50 ohm 1/2 watt carbon resistor as a dummy load instead of -10db attenuator.
You should test your video system on ground or 10'above (plane on roof) to be sure that harmonics from video tx doesn't swamp your 2.4 ghz receiver !! Good Luck, Can you post info about your FPV setup, TX, RX models cost etc.
Mark, I have flown the system in my Hobby People Super Lightning (Easy Star clone) to 1700 feet away with no bad effects. My system is the DX7, AR7000 receiver with 1 satellite receiver, Turnigy 2212 1050kv motor, Turnigy Plush 18A ESC, 2 HXT-900 servos, a BestOfferBuy 700mw 1.28ghz video system. I use a G.P. Patch antenna that I made from the RC-Cam website, the VRx is tuned to channel 9, I use an Aiptek MVPR+CB to record the video, and a Sony 9" DVD plyer as my screen. I also have 2 of the Trimersion gogles. I'm using an Eagle Tree OSDPro OSD, eLogger V3, and Eagle Tree GPS. I just received an Eagle Tree Eagle Eyes ground station. A Sony 480 TVL .5 lux eBay camera. I'm using a home made 1/4 wave VTx antenna using a piece of RG316 coax (wotks very well).
I'm working on an Easy Star with a similar Turnigy motor, a Castle Creations Phoenix 25 ESC, HXT-900 servos and I'll take the same stuff out of the Super Lightning and use it in the Easy Star.
I'm new to this, but a long time modeler and R/C flyer. I fly the SL visually from the ground but now that the weather is getting better, I can hook up with some flying buddies and they can spot for me as I learn to go "under the hood."
Right, It's fine without long cable or attenuator, I tested this for over 4 hours on bench , while setting up my ET OSD Pro, Jordi contacted manufacture and true safe input power level is at 20dbm, I also have a -3db attenuator, and will use it on input of power amp just to be safe..
