"Though I have seen many videos of people doing it. I guess you can be lucky most of the time but not all of the time."

"You can't compare a Stryker to an X8. For a start the winglets prohibit any type of wing launch method. The there is the weight. Forget all attempts at hand launching an X8 they are doomed to failure or injury."

Lloyd Breckenridge commented on Tommy Larsen's blog post Skywalker X8 hand injury
"This is the cheapest and safest way to launch an X8 All up about $30 worth of materials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfVhfR4Cj_Y I have never even considered hand launching mine."

Lloyd Breckenridge commented on kitegruppe's blog post Sint Flood in Germany filmed with my APM2 QUAD
"Don't want spoil a good video but this video seems to endorse playing in flood waters. In Australia the message is never to enter flood waters no matter how safe they look. That should be the message to the rest of the world as well."

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to Andrew Tridgell's discussion ArduPlane 2.73 released
"I think it was removed as an OPTION. It is now always manual_level. This is the only option ever used for level on a plane. At least I presume that is what was meant. I have never tried to not use manual_level."

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to Andrew Tridgell's discussion ArduPlane 2.73 released
"Flew my X8 with the 2.73 firmware yesterday. This navigation control is excellent. The aircraft now loiters in a perfect circle with the default settings whereas with the prior version it loitered in a square. It hits every way point exactly and the…"

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to matterenergy's discussion Please Help - Elevon Mixing Issues
"I would tend to disagree with first setting up stabilize however. I made sure everything worked in manual by mixing the radio. Then used the reverse options in mission planner to get stabilize working. Just my thoughts though."

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to matterenergy's discussion Please Help - Elevon Mixing Issues
"I tend to agree that the text is wrong it should be 1 to port and 2 to starboard. I recently pulled everything apart and when I plugged it all back in, everything was OK in manual but stabilize was wrong. I thought something else must have changed…"

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to Byron's discussion Auto mode problem
"The plane will not restart the same mission just by switch to auto again after completing the mission. You can issue a command via telemetry to Restart Mission. As far as I know this has always been the case."

Lloyd Breckenridge replied to Martin Schmid's discussion Wrong aileron deflection in stabilize mode
"I think we need a few more details. What is the airframe, standard 4 channel? Another thing to check is make sure the APM has the correct orientation."

Lloyd Breckenridge commented on Adam AKAV8R's blog post X-8 Maiden Flight - Prop Strike - Crash (SafetyTip)
"Also the latest version switches to circle for a short while as part of RTL I think. That may explain the seemingly random elevon deflections as well as the attitude problem. "

Lloyd Breckenridge commented on Adam AKAV8R's blog post X-8 Maiden Flight - Prop Strike - Crash (SafetyTip)
"On my X8 initially stabilize would lose altitude very quickly and even loiter would too. I had to level the plane in a fairly pronounced nose up attitude to overcome these problems. I think what looks like level to the X8 on the ground is really…"

Lloyd Breckenridge commented on Adam AKAV8R's blog post X-8 Maiden Flight - Prop Strike - Crash (SafetyTip)
"Seriously build yourself a bungee launcher for about $30. The X8 is far to big and the prop far too dangerous for a hand launch in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfVhfR4Cj_Y The above video is my bungee launcher built for about $30 If…"
