To carry the payload you are looking for you will need 6 motors or 4 very powerful motors.

I think going for 300g liquid payload may be more what you are looking for.

Clone Automation - $100

40amp ESCs (4)   - $80

Turnigy Motors 250Watt - (4) - $80

Turnigy Battrey - 8.0Ah         - $30

Quad Copter Frame              -  $80

2.4 Ghz controller  - $90

Sprayer System - DIY?   $?

$460 + Shipping from the website.

Depending on which hobby site you go to it may be a bit cheaper.

Keep in mind that all carbon tubes are not made equal. Carbon quality and wall thickness can be very different. You will definitely get what you pay for when it comes to electronics and drone kits. There is a reason why they charge $600 for one kind of 1000mm Frame and $180 on a different 1000mm frame.

Stratos is an extremely solid and reliable system in every way, but there is a price, and it grows very fast unfortunately.

If you are doing this for school, I would say you are only doing this as proof of concept, and should execute the smallest, most inexpensive version of this copter possible.

We can simply use an air pressure bottle as your pesticide propellant and cheap HomeDespot sprayer parts.

As you look into this further, a good ratio to apply is that your copter will be 2x the size of the payload.

Final note,

Airplanes are much much cheaper to build than a Multi-Rotor.

Planes, fly longer, carry more, use 1 motor - ESC, use a smaller battery.

Cost tends to be much less. Unfortunately the current level of automation does require you to be able pilot the airplane a bit.
