Al Ros commented on Chris Anderson's blog post ArduCopter vs Phantom loiter test
"Hmm

I have been away from APM since last summers firmware and I just finished testing Loiter in firmware 3.1.5 on APM 2.5 compared to naza. Basically APM takes a more aggressive approach to position hold. So It does seem more "accurate", but NAZA…"

Can I ask - If I am using arduplane without an airspeed sensor (I have some on order) should I use the default TECS speed/height controller on or disable it until the airspeed sensor is installed and calibrated?

thanks

"Thanks Guys for your support !!
I'll keep plugging away but certainly any help on the firmware side would be great.

Yes the single motor with belt driven rotors would be a step up for sure. I am looking at using 450 size tail rotors. Will keep you…"

"Hi Randy
Thanks for the tip on rate p and your interest in this.
I have set it up so that throttle goes directly to a 3 way divider cable and then to the speed controllers. I then set a throttle curve in the radio to allow the motors to shut down at…"

I have been building a variable pitch tricopter and wanted to share my results so far.Basically - I chose a tri and not a quad, because the tri geometry is the same as a traditional heli 120 deg swash plate. Since I can't write a firmware on my own,…

"Here is a list of my various attempts
1 - radio programed as 120 deg swash and used airplane stabilizer - worked but not great
2 - used a commercial heli flybarless system - it flew , but could not set gains low enough
3- used my ardupilot mega -…"

Al Ros commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Variable pitch quads fly upside down
"The reason I chose a tri and not a quad is because I could use of the shelf fc board that allows separation of throttle and pitch - hence a flybar less approach and a mock 120 deg swash

To be taken to the next level - a dedicated firmware for this…"

I believe it is contolable as a 120 deg traditional heli swash - i have tried an airplane stabilizer with radio swash mix,…"
