All,I'm preparing a Certificate of Authorization (COA) application for our research use of a 3DR Solo under the Public Aircraft authority. Diving into the FAA's system, the application process is cryptic to say the least. I've reviewed several of…
"Joe,
Thanks so much! I'd ignored that new notification previously. Tested your suggestion last night, and...voila!...the GoPro video worked. Back in the air with the new phone.
The Nexus 5X showed up yesterday, and, of course, had to try it with the Solo. The app connects fine to the sololink wifi and seems to communicate just fine with Solo (get the "Ready for takeoff" voice message once GPS satellites are sufficient).…
"I also agree with comments about safe flying and knowing how to fly in non-GPS/barometer flight modes (stabilize or full manual). I have a Husban and two built-from-scratch quads (APM and Naze32) that I also fly.
That said, most of us (all?) are…"
"Jack, thanks for looking. Hmmm...I have no idea why the throttle dropped like that. I'm *almost* positive I didn't pull back (on the Solo controller) on the throttle. On further study, I just discovered the "map" option in the log browser:
Before you reply with...geez...that was dumb: Ya, I know it was, just trying to better learn from my mistake.I attempted a risky flight over water yesterday (whole flight in Fly/Loiter mode). Launched from the shore with some tree cover (ya, not…
"Simple answer, yes. I'm using Mission Planner on a laptop to convert the flight log to a GPX file. Then I use gpicsync (https://code.google.com/p/gpicsync/) to add lat/long to each photo.
The key is establishing the time difference between the…"
"No, it's likely not. We're using fixed wing for most of our mapping. But, I'm all for testing and finding out where the real limitations are...
The Solo fills two important niches: 1) mapping where we have limited space for landing a fixed wing, and…"
It's time to start using the Solo for why we bought it...detailed aerial mapping with a real camera. So, we bought a GoPro-to-tripod mount and hung a Sony a5100 (with time-lapse app) off the bottom of the Solo:Was a little nervous about the security…
"Finally got mine working. Tried various GoPro settings and 720/30fps was the trick. Also noticed that successful video feed may be dependent on the mobile device. 720/30fps worked on Nexus 7 (2013) but not on my Moto G (2nd gen).
"I see the app just fine. And, the app connects to the controller through wifi just fine. So, all connections seem to work as expected, just a black area where the video feed should be (same as Terry Cagg experienced).
Still no success with…"
"Tried 30 fps and 60 fps, no luck.
Also tried reseating HDMI cable several times. No dice.
Does the sequence of turning on the controller, solo, and gopro matter?
