Scott Penrose commented on Rob_Lefebvre's blog post Oh Look. Yet another quadcopter goes over $1M on Kickstarter.
"Has anyone looked at the FAQ. The claims are that it only weights 60 grams fully loaded. And that by being low weight and having motors that can reverse from 100,000 RPM to the opposite 100,000 RPM in 250ms. I can't comment on the speed of that…"

Scott Penrose left a comment on Melbourne
"Meet up. Hi there. Any chance we could organise a meet up some time in January. I have a property North East of Melbourne and would consider that as a location some time. Casual or more formal. I have my big 28" prop X4 I built for Antarctica to…"

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion Extreme Conditions (cold and windy)
"I was unable to do my flying planned due to the US rules (long story)...
However we did some ground testing (no propellers) and at one point I lost control (as in dropping power would still keep full power on etc)... After a bit of investigation in…"

http://hforsten.com/6-ghz-frequency-modulated-radar.htmlIntroductio... for some time now wanted to do more RF design. Although I have taken some RF design courses, I haven't actually made a single RF design before. But you can't learn without…

Scott Penrose commented on Kyomo Jung's blog post LTE based FPV and Long Distance controlling UAV - IofT
"LTE is the phone network - i.e. mobile broadband."

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion Mavlink 3DR 433Mhz + RFD900 + Bluetooth + Serial + ANT+
"ANT has been a standard a long time - can't find the exact start date. But if you have a wireless pedal sensor on a bike, it will likely be ANT. ANT is built into many Android tablets.
My only reason for even remotely considering ANT is one thing -…"

Scott Penrose commented on X-Winder's blog post Lifeguard Drone Ready For Mass Production
"Ohh... thought of a good application though - what about off a big ship. Man over board, ship can't turn around, takes at least 15-30 minutes to launch a small boat."

Scott Penrose commented on X-Winder's blog post Lifeguard Drone Ready For Mass Production
"In Australia they already use full size helicopters. The concept of a UAV instead is a good one. But like Darrel said, I think this one is too small for the winds."

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion APM Planner / Mission Planner Keyboard Keys
"OK going crazy. I am sure this is a simple problem. I have downloaded Mission Planner and APM Planner to see what the shortcut keys are.
Gut feeling is that lots of people would want to press a key to change a mode, rather than fiddling with the…"

Is there a set of shortcut / keyboard entries I can use to change modes in MP/AP - using the mouse is very slow going, especially if it is bright outside. I was hoping I could have a keyboard shortcut for RTL for example. Thanks

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion My Heavy Lift U8, Pixhawk - Sweep heads South
"Yes 3.2. Yes same parameters (change GPS_TYPE_2 = 1; recalibrate accels and both comapss) however I did not enable any of the EKF filters - will look into that tomorrow."

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion My Heavy Lift U8, Pixhawk - Sweep heads South
"BREAKING NEWS - Based on some good advice I fought I would try 3.2 RC12 today (yes it is T-2 days for packing, but living on the edge) - AND WOOOOWWWWWW ... Rock solid Loiter. Just hung there in the air ! Now I do have to prefix that with no wind…"

Scott Penrose replied to Scott Penrose's discussion My Heavy Lift U8, Pixhawk - Sweep heads South
"Do you have a picture :-) Sorry to hear about the crashes. Lower KV motors, especially how efficient these are, tend to spin very low and I have had a stop - one stopped due to sync issues you might end up in reverse or just slow to start. One…"
