About Me:

i enjoy robotics and i mainly use arduino and a enjoy flying planes

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

like in the about me i do a lot of robotics so combining it with flying things (another favourite hobby) is really great

mquintilian commented on Armen Poghosov's blog post Gas+electric hybrid multi-copters ...
"Most hobby IC engines put out much less power than there rated for. Anyone who has compared nitro and electric rc cars will know this. Electric RC cars have waaayyyy more power than there nitro equivalents (size, weight), longer run times (compared…"

"Here's the build log http://scapeoflegends.com/pictures.php. It appears there actually building a scale model of a cargo transport jet....um yeah. Well at least they aren't asking for 180,000"

mquintilian commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Kickstarter project for a "Smart-Pod" UAV pod
"Why would you need 180,000$ to fund the production of 1000$ pieces of foam? It kinda makes me suspicious. There "ruggedized" airframe looks a radian pro.
What annoys me the most is the deliberate attempt to obscure commercial diy drones hardware."

mquintilian commented on Christiaan van Vollenstee's blog post The most silly yet serious protest
"1. If you watch the whole thing you'd realize it's not anti drone

2. 3DR robotics(DIY drones) agreed to be in this video.

3. Chris Anderson (founder and in the video) has posted it here himself saying it was a video that he liked."

mquintilian commented on Gabe's blog post Autonomous gas powered heavy lift quadcopter we are calling HLQ
"Very cool but even though a gas engine may say it puts out 12.6 HP, they don't put out nearly that amount especially the two stroke gassers. I'd be surprised if the engine there using is able to put out 6hp"

mquintilian replied to John Dell's discussion Naza M vs. APM 2
"I just want to put in my feedback as I have used both also on there recommend platforms (3DR quad, F450 flamewheel) using default PI values but I do not have the gps on the Naza
Stability
The Naza's stability is a tad better but The Apm stable mode…"

mquintilian commented on Randall Kolchins's blog post Low Cost Thermal Pan Tilt Zoom (FLIR PTZ) Gimbal WISH LIST
" I would use it mostly for terrain when doing line of sight night flying. I really don't think a massive fov is necessary and would make it tough to judge depth. It could also easily accompany a cctv camera if someone wants a really wide fov for…"

Its based on the common A3967 IC "

"I want to drop this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqlptPhFmk0 of someone using a flir camera mounted on a drone. The video is very usable without a zoom.

Most stepper drivers take a pulse input similar to pwm which would be very easy…"

mquintilian commented on Randall Kolchins's blog post Low Cost Thermal Pan Tilt Zoom (FLIR PTZ) Gimbal WISH LIST
"I agree a box cam that would fit in gimbal made for DSLRs would be awesome and would probably appeal to more markets (S800, CinemaStar). Your D15 camera is listed on ebay for 1000$ so is a price under 2000$ reasonable or would we be looking at more…"

mquintilian commented on Randall Kolchins's blog post Low Cost Thermal Pan Tilt Zoom (FLIR PTZ) Gimbal WISH LIST
"Many drones have a "FPV" system using a TX/RX that takes a analog composite input.  So you're current output should integrate easily. It is possible to use RS/485 protocol to communicate to the apm but a TTL 5v serial protocol or PWM would be…"

mquintilian commented on Jason Short's blog post Arducopter 2.7 Auto-Flip
