Andy Gibbons commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Announcing the next era at 3D Robotics
"Chris,
I applaud your efforts.  You truly are revolutionizing the way that people are exposed to drones and the community that has evolved is nothing short of amazing.  One of the biggest reasons I have so much respect for you is that even though…"

Andy Gibbons commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Iris Developer Edition shipments started!
"Oh I also forgot to ask about the changes for the official release.  Will things like the battery door and GoPro mounts be available to purchase for these developer versions so we can bring them up to the same status?

Thanks!"

Andy Gibbons commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Iris Developer Edition shipments started!
"Chris,
Since I use a Graupner transmitter, I like the fact that the MK hardware allows a special connection to allow telemetry info to be fed down through the receiver.  In the past I thought I saw someone do it with custom code, so I wondered if…"

"If someone was to order today, will it be with this batch or still 2-3 weeks?"

Andy Gibbons commented on Joshua Ott's blog post T-Motor is looking for our help to develop UAV specific motors
"If you would like to see the results, Ferdinand (who built a quad that flies 97 minutes of a charge) is now going for an endurance record with these motors and the giant T-Motor props.  He is building an X8 and has a vast knowledge in optimizing…"

Andy Gibbons commented on Joshua Ott's blog post Iris details: #1 The 4-1 ESC/Power Module
"Agreed,
A mass produced I2C setup with individual current/temp/voltage sensors would be great (similar to the MK).  I'd welcome the telemetry functionality to see how well balanced your copter is by monitoring live the output current of each motor.…"

Andy Gibbons commented on Joshua Ott's blog post 3D Robotics introduces Iris, a totally ready-to-fly quadcopter UAV with next-gen autopilot
"Chris,
I've got one question for the follow-me function, will it automatically control the pitch of the gimbal to keep the subject in view or will it just lock heading to the subject?

Thanks!"

No, you turn it into a tri-copter then. :P"

Andy Gibbons commented on Joshua Ott's blog post 3D Robotics introduces Iris, a totally ready-to-fly quadcopter UAV with next-gen autopilot
"Thanks Justin!  I originally though larger props were going to be easy but with the wide front stance how large can we go.  I assume 11" props would be ok, what about 12" props?"

Andy Gibbons commented on Joshua Ott's blog post 3D Robotics introduces Iris, a totally ready-to-fly quadcopter UAV with next-gen autopilot
"Shyam,
I think there is room for improvement with some lower kv Tiger motors and larger props on 4S (assuming the ESCs will handle 4S).  I'm looking to maximize flight time with an ultralight brushless gimbal.  "

"Resurrecting this old thread because I didn't see it anywhere else, but the 8108s are officially out and the only price I've seen for them was $279 a piece.  Information from Tiger's website.

Andy Gibbons replied to Doug Walmsley's discussion EvvGC 3-axis MOS Open Source Brushless Gimbal Controller in ArduCopter User Group
"I've been following the thread closely and it is the first board with real promise for a 3-axis setup.  Although I would NOT order that board (the one from Goodluckbuy) as there was an issue that the designer brought to our attention.  He does have…"

Andy Gibbons commented on Trent at MyGeekShow's blog post 10k autonomous flight - telemetry guided flight, and other APM tests!
"Very cool Trent, you have one heck of an efficient airframe setup!  Also a great promotional video for the amazing things the APM board and MP software are capable of. It never fails to surprise me how far this platform has come, point and click…"

Andy Gibbons replied to Bud Zirkle's discussion Quad motors jump to near full throttle in ArduCopter User Group
"Just a shot in the dark but it sounds like to me you have incorrect min/max settings in your APM.  Similar to how the XAircraft ESCs were UltraPWM which had a 200-1000 pulse range where standard ESCs may ues 1000-2000.  So when plugging those…"
