David Locascio replied to Corey O's discussion Mounting a S100 cannon camera on my drone
"I just checked and, unfortunately, I do not have the solid models any more... Pretty perplexed as to where they went.

What I did was measure the hole spacing and depth of the Tarot plate, and emulate those with a 3-D model. I then designed a second…"

David Locascio replied to Waladi's discussion [Aerial Mapping] What is best Sony Nex 5 setting for Aerial Mapping mission?
"How quickly (seconds) are your pictures being taken? There are two issues I can see.

1. You're in auto iso mode - your camera has a limit to how fast it can refocus and take a picture (~2 seconds)

2. The IR trigger sending signals while your…"

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Photogrammetry Workstation/Server
"You're right - it may be something we want to try first. I'll allocate half the cores and try to run two instances.

The most annoying part was the project failing because of RAM limitations, but it looks like they now spill over into HDD space…"

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Photogrammetry Workstation/Server
"As David K. said, Pix4D stitches images into an orthomosaic in edit-able tiles, whereas Agisoft actually uses the individual pixels. If you don't need orthomosaics without artifacts, then either is fine.

Agisoft has problems recreating an…"

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Photogrammetry Workstation/Server
"Hey Gerard,

I think you misunderstood. We already have a workstation for processing, but my understanding is that Pix4D can only run one instance per processor for some steps, even .... We currently are using an i7-4790k with 64 GB RAM and I'm…"

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Photogrammetry Workstation/Server
"David,

We used Agisoft for quite some time, but we found that Pix4D works better for us, despite some of it's downsides. The way they stitch together the mosaic is crucial for some of our customers."

Hi everyone,Is anyone doing multi-processor processing of aerial imagery on Pix4D or other software? I would like to up our processing capacity by acquiring low-cost (sub $6000) processing hardware that can run multiple instances of Pix4D.Unless…

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Converting a Raster Image to a Vector Format
"Hey Gerard,
Thanks for your response!

While classification looks useful, our end goal is to produce something like this... So actually creating the survey drawing is the goal. While some people do it by hand, it is incredibly time consuming. One of…"

"In a similar vein to this thread, are there any companies that do multirotor flight controllers aside from Microcopter? I've had no end of issues with the Pixhawk and 3DR compass/GPS, and need something that I know isn't going to stop functioning at…"

"Call 3DR support for immediate assistance.

You probably just need to download the 3DR-M parameters onto the Pixhawk controller."

David Locascio replied to David Locascio's discussion Auto mode nosediving/note following waypoints
"Update: user error. Because flight mode 6 is set to manual, when I thought I was switching to auto, it was actually passing auto and switching to manual."

After verifying that FBWA works great on my Skywalker, we were trying out auto mode. We tried with two flight plans, one with a takeoff waypoint and one with 3 nav waypoints, and then one with 3 nav waypoints. The altitude was set to 60m. We have…

David Locascio replied to George Sugden's discussion ADVICE on Roof surveying
"I think we are agreeing, and it is just your English/phrasing that is confusing the matter.

The MTOW suggested by the manufacturer already has a built in factor of safety (if they do it right)."
