Richard Unwin replied to Scott Ashcraft's discussion UAV Catapult Launcher
"Hi I made one last year to launch my UAv and have had success launching a 60 size that weighs about 4 kg and has some power left which when I get back to it will be able to launch my bigger custom Uav. Total cost was about 300 with a bit of…"

"Boys, you have risen to the top of my list of bodgy field repair experts, i am still laughing about seeing you use a car battery to move a control clevis. Anyway it worked in the end but sure is not written in any text book on rc plane repairs.…"

"Great shots of norway, are you making a tourism commercial if not you should be. My only minor critisim is the speeding up of the shots upsets the grandeur of the scenes imho.

Richard Unwin replied to Sumner Swaner's discussion Newbie sounds way to advanced for me
"Sumner, i agree with the others comments and feel the best one is to find someone local that flies and hang outwith them for awhile and they will soon help you to start flying, it makes it alot easier if for your first flights you have someone…"

"Jason, I agree with the safety aspect, the only stored energy is in the compressor section and I leave the air hose unplugged until just about launch time. I then plug the hose onto the launcher and have a manual trigger(which I will mount onto a…"

"Mike, its a flat bottom wing and I havent measured it but it looks to be inline with the wheels, it would be easy enough to change the angle of attack by moving the brackets on the trolley frame, I have tried to keep it as simple as possible and…"

"I will be happy with 50 launches the plane costs 135 so thats less than $3 a launch, given the other risks to the airframe during flight I am not planning on handing the airframe down to the next generation:)

Ramp angle is 11 deg.

As for using a…"
