Steve Warren replied to Ellison Chan's discussion DIYDrones Rants and Raves
"I didn't get a tracking number either but one day my APM2 just showed up in my mailbox, right on schedule in the batch of corresponding order numbers they were posting on twitter.  I have no complaints. It seems to me that 3DR is being up-front…"

Steve Warren commented on Coptaire's blog post 3D printed Propeller Shroud Kit
"I love this whole world of print your own designs. Wow I feel like a kid in a candy shop. I am building my first quad from stuff other people designed but now I am going to feel compelled (once I finish quad #1) to start working on my own design for…"

Since this is not really a drone related question I couldn't find a forum that it would fit into so I'm sticking this in misc - if there's a better place feel free to move it. My question is could an ardupilot + a laptop or tablet be used as the…

Steve Warren replied to Brad Hughey's discussion The Case for Large-Scale Electric Multicopters
"Hi Brad - loving this - keep it up. On the ducted fan issue I can't speak for others but my interest in ducted fans for large scale multi-rotors is primarilly safety. I want to build a "moller skycar." :) Obviously it's not working for him though..."

Steve Warren commented on Adam Rivera's blog post RESOLVED: ArduCopter 2.5.3 Yaw Issues
"Also it sounds like for the magnetic compass, it could be advantageous to mount the ESCs near the motors instead of directly under the APM. It sounds like the range of errors that need to be corrected for would be reduced in that configuration. True?"

Steve Warren commented on Adam Rivera's blog post RESOLVED: ArduCopter 2.5.3 Yaw Issues
"I love this stuff. It is absolutely amazing what we get to play with! When I was in college (a long time ago) I did an internship with General Dynamics F-16 division and they were so proud of their inertial navigation avionics box. It was a big…"

Steve Warren commented on Adam Rivera's blog post RESOLVED: ArduCopter 2.5.3 Yaw Issues
"Noob question - since the MPU-6000 has a 3-axis gyro, it seems like that type of "inertial compass" would be a better real-time compass (since it is unaffected by magnetic fields) than a magnetic compass. It seems like when you first started up,…"

Steve Warren replied to Steve Warren's discussion Still can't order APM2
"The reason I ask is because it used to have a message that said “Availability:: Currently Unavailable” but today the message changed to say “Availability:: Usually Ships in 12 weeks”.
And when I try to order, it now says a 1-pin header is holding up…"

It says it's available but it won't add to shopping cart because it says the 1-pin header is no longer available. Is this just a bug in the order process or is it intentional to hold up orders over a 1-pin header? Thanks

Steve Warren replied to Steve Warren's discussion How to download the manual?
"OK - I found a really cool solution and it is open source:

Super-easy to use. I just downloaded the manual with it - it took a couple of hours and 100MB of disk but it wokrs perfect. It is a true local mirror of the manual…"
