Requesting help/advice about Ardu-copter and alt. hold....(video)

Also so as you can see my alt. hold is def not woorking.... and as you can tell from the video, my rig is pretty solid... the only thing I can thinkk of is that the foam i have smooshed against the board and next stack is choking the barometer? Ive noticed that with and without the foam on the ground of my 2ns story apt... while hooked up to the mission planner My alt. flucuates like crazy eventually coming to rest at neg. .25meters..??? it starts aount 12meters and drops down to neg. 4meters…See More

How can I check Ardu-copter for reverse corrections?

So on my first test flight.... i pulled light back/left and i fripped and rolled hard forward/right....Which makes me think that some how my tx is reversed, and the correction/reaction from apm is reversed?Could it be the dip switches, which havent been mvoed since the mission planner evolved?I know I have to play around with my tx/apm reverses when It on a plane, so im sure i have to do the same with ardu/copter even though I went through the level process, and esc calibrations. See More

Encountering problems with APM and Adru-copter =[ please help!

So At first I was pledged with ESC calibration issues, which was resolved I think....But now, when I plub in the lipo, and start the calibration sequence (hold down/right 4sec.s) The LED calibration lights alternate then die... and dosent come back on, and dosent respond to rc inputs?Ive tried unplugging and retrying multiple times, and hitting the reset buttons on the IMU...Very rarely can I get the LEDs/calibration to work and let me throttle up, and when I did the inputs were still…See More

"I assume you calibrated your radio first? ESCs can be hard to sometimes calibrate. You might try reversing your throttle."

Need help with Ardu 3DR Esc setup!

So I just got the 3dr quad copter but im having issues getting the escs to calabrate?Ive tried Auto calabration and manual more than twice each, and I cant get the motors respond after calabration? Durring the ESC calabration the motors will spin up, directly after moving the throttle down, but after I unplug the battery, and replug the motors will not spin up.... and moving the throttle/rudder in the indicated manner from the manual will not ""unlock" the motors?Im not sure why its not…See More

Newbie Quad Airframe and gear suggestions please? =]

Hello, Ive been flying APM on airplanes so far and have enjoyed them but now im finally ready to take that leap into quads! Im not sure I like DIYdrones quads.... mostly because of the landing gear, and im just unsure of it right now...Im currently looking at the AQ600 Quad from Hobbyking, can anyone offer me good suggestions on a capeable, durable, airframe? I plan on doing aerial video/photos from my wuad, probly flipcam or gopro.I need a frame with tall legs so I can add the roll/tilt camera…See More

Beeler UAV Part 10 "IFO" Maiden Flight!

Posted on July 12, 2011 at 10:00am 3 Comments

So I have been waiting to fly this geobat plane I built for over a month now. I have previously been too nervice with all my unseccessful RC flights with numerous just RC planes...But today was different, I walked out side, notices little to no wind and thought... TODAY'S THE DAY!

I have both an onboard camera, and a ground camera to see everything thats happening!

Please Enjoy!

Beeler UAV Dev. Part 7

I am nearing the completion of my UAV build code named "The Predecessor".

This is the drone I will be presenting in front of a panel of judges for 50% of my English grade for the year.

This is a year long research project, where I learned the principles of flight, how drones fly/work, how to design on CAD, building, and flying my original drone.

In this video I will show off my drone as it is today (90%…

Gravity Plane as UAV platform?

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 7:36pm 5 Comments

Alright, so if you watched this, and you thought what I thought then your thinking... (Helium!)
A VTOL using Helium is genius, a little complex by their description.. but the idea is simple enough to mold!
I like the fact that the engines are only running for a short time, to the the plane high enough to glide down, using very little power after the first climb!

Beeler UAV drone plans! free! (The Predecessor)

I have received a few messages asking for a more complete blog post about my drone I've designed and am building for my High School senior project!

It took me 3 months to learn CAD, and finish designing everything about this drone, the only part I left out was the skin.. You have to fit the skin your self. I used 1mm depron foam, and over covered the whole wing, then trimmed off the excesses after pinning it to the wings,…

Hi Anthony,
I have slightly modified title of your "alright Chris how about this? its a scratch built ive been dreaming of since i heard of DIY DRONES!" post to be (slightly) more concise and addressed to general DIYdrones audience. If you absolutely insist on the original post title I will change it back
