"1) Yes and no, there will be less resistance to turning the blade, so yes there will be a better spin up spin down as the energy in the blades is not so high, I have a number of customers running on the 880 and 10" props, so far they are going…"

Björn Geir Leifsson replied to Björn Geir Leifsson's discussion 3DR Hexacopter setup, some questions
"Thanks Martin   1) I also suspect the 880 - 10" might come out nice since shorter props allow for faster transitions and smaller ambient wind resistance. Maybe the difference is minimal but... I'll try that first. 880 can carry larger…"

Martint BuildYourOwnDrone.co.uk replied to Björn Geir Leifsson's discussion 3DR Hexacopter setup, some questions
"Hello Bjorn,   1) 880Kv with the 10" props allows you a better flight, plus you can add the extra inch or two prop later on should the need come about to lift more weight. 2) Optical flow sensor is on for the APM 1 & 2, in the Wiki…"

Björn Geir Leifsson replied to Andrew Tridgell's discussion Regulatory compliance for the 3DR Radios

Profile Information

About Me:
Middle-aged gastrointestinal surgeon (Bariatric), RC modeller since childhood, builder and flyer, Technology and science geek, Husband, Two boys (22 and 18) who are accomplished RC pilots and a wonderful daughter (12)
Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
Along with a group of RC interested engineering students and some wilderness search and rescue technology specialists we aim to develop and test affordable UAV systems to support SAR in the barren landscape and harsh environment of Iceland

I am one of two "Angel-investors" supporting the project until we can apply for and hopefully get development grants.
Two project ideas prevail at the moment: 1. a loitering drone (Arducopter?)for eye-in-the-sky, real time hi-res video downlink to the command center in search operations. 2. a winged autonomous drone for hi-res aero-photography, hopefully with a real time downlink for analysis using the crowd-sourcing principle.
