Is it fixable

My Ardupilot 2.5 board experienced a fairly hard crash in my plane.  I can see that the board is physically bent near the USB port (very slightly, but visible nevertheless). When I connect to the APM, it does not see the dataflash card.  When I press down on the chip, it sees it, so I guess one of the legs detached. My question is, is it worth it to try and fix this?  My basic soldering skills does not include re-mounting surface mount components! Is it an option to try and find someone that can…See More

Auto Takeoff Weirdness

Since I converted my drone from ground takeoff to hand-launch, I have started to use the auto-takeoff function as this makes hand-launching a 2.5kg drone a bit less "hairy"!I do have some strange, behaviour though.  When I switch the plane to Autopilot, the motor immediately goes to takeoff power.  Radio throttle is at zero, and the plane is standing still on the ground. It's not a great problem, I simply keep the plane in manual, and when ready switch to Auto and throw it into the air. (though…See More

When Fail-safe causes Failure

I recently upgraded my Turnigy 9x radio with the FR-SKY DHT-U radio module. This upgrade gave me access to quite a bit of extra functionality, telemetry, range check and fail-safe. Stuff you don't have with the stock radio. The 9x doesn't usually have fail-safe setup, though it does at least pull the throttle channel to zero. The Ardupilot can detect this, and take action upon this condition. In my case, it will go into circle mode for a few seconds, and if still no signal is found, it will RTL…See More
