I have been trying to decipher the protocol I get when connected to my APM 2.5.  I originally saw this when I opened up the terminal in Mission Planner to analyze the MAVLink.  After that I opened…Continue

Overlaying GPS Coordinates for Camera Crosshairs

Posted on November 27, 2013 at 2:30am 34 Comments

Hey Guys!

I am working on a project to allow us to implement GPS coordinates for the location of the crosshairs of a PTZ camera, other wise known as Geo-pointing.  This will essentially give us the LAT/LONG of what we are looking at.

I have found several methods to do this, but I'm looking…

Telemetry/Video over 4G/LTE Cellular link for Beyond-LOS Flight

I have a thought to use cellular technology to pipe video and data over a UDP connection.  This is nothing, however, I haven't seen a lot of support for the usage of 4G/LTE which allows up to 100mbps speeds.  Has anyone ever read up on this pico board?  I'ts available from min-box.com.  The same place…

Pleasure to meet you, Hunter. Nice to see another military man here on DIYDrones. I, too, would like to design, build and sell drones possibly as a contractor... I just have to wait till I retire active duty. 5.5 years to go. Interested in collaborating a bit to see what we can come up with? I have 3 years of operational experience with the MQ-1 (1000+ hrs) and MQ-9 (600+ hrs) and 11 years aerospace maintenance prior to that. I can't talk too in depth about the operational side since I know more than the average user and some of it is still classified, but I would love to participate or start a project of my own. Interested to hear about your military experiences as well!

Hi Bryan,
I'd be very interested in collaborating. Like I said in my blog, I work with the Preds and Reapers daily and you guys every day at my job. So I know what you mean about the operational side. I'm headed to work now but my email is parri0923@gmail.com. We definitely should link up to see what great minds can do!
