"+1 But I got (transferred) my Windows xp from and old HP laptop. $50 covers the Fusion but it doesn't (correct me Mike if I'm mistaken) cover the Windows. "

"Long shot. Check right rear motor temp and see if it's running hot. It might have a problem. Again, long shot guess. "

Phil Cramer commented on Will Snodgrass's blog post GoPro and Gimbal
"I'm surprised no one has chimed in about the new Sony HDR-AS10 Action Video Camera.  Sony's Action Cam site Sony action cam on amazon GoPro has such a huge top-of-mind presence that people don't look much further. I find the…"

Phil Cramer commented on leonardthall's blog post New Throttle PID Idea
"@leonard et al, Just a weekend shout of encouragement and appreciation from a 'throttle jockey'. Keep up the good work. It's really been a help to those of us who want to have graceful, precise control. "

"Good looking quads. Couple of questions, please. I like your new landing gear. What's the material and do you see any aerodynamic effect? What brand of CF props? Your ping pong ball 'stinger' rear end orientation is new to me;…"

Phil Cramer commented on Damian Axford's blog post 3DR Hexacopter - maiden flight to wipeout in 4 days
"@Randy - I've thought about reverse prop nuts and wondered if there were any available. I too wish they catch on. It only makes sense. Reverse threads are used on bicycle pedals and table saw blades for example. I hope you can encourage some…"

"Guido. I've seen the iPhone app 'Vibration' (or some such) but wondered if the measurements would be accurate since having the iPhone touching (mounted on) the copter would distort, throw off, the measurements? Your thoughts,…"

"Sometimes you've got to follow your passion. I see this as really good news for those of us 'invested' in 3DR gear. Congrats and best of luck Chris! "

Phil Cramer replied to Andy Theimer's discussion 3DR Quad First Tethered Flight - Flies right + forward w/o radio input.
"Anything you can do would be good and of course as soon as you can. I use a Spektrum DX7s with the telemetry module to monitor voltage. But there's no way to set an alarm with it. You have to watch the display and that's really not the…"

Phil Cramer replied to Andy Theimer's discussion 3DR Quad First Tethered Flight - Flies right + forward w/o radio input.
"Good to hear. You were smart to SIM. It will be interesting to hear about your progress.  None the less, like Steve suggests, order those spare parts 'cause there will be some 'hard landings.' Watch out for low batteries.…"

Phil Cramer replied to Samuel Presgraves's discussion Radio question, channel setup
"Samuel, I think you're still a bit confused about the whole setup. For example, the 5th channel switch (3 position) does not do like you stated. It is just three positions, three Pulse Widths, so it is not variable in the sense that you can aim…"

Phil Cramer replied to Samuel Presgraves's discussion Radio question, channel setup
"Why are the pan tilt for FPV and GoPro separate? Usually I've seen the two cams mounted together on the gimbal.  For that matter, the pan is usually done with the yaw (rudder) control on the Tx. The gimbal is used for roll and tilt…"

Phil Cramer replied to Rob_Lefebvre's discussion New Octo Copter Design/Build Thread
"+1 on your video. If it drys out here in the US Midwest, I may shoot my own with a quad. Sounds like more fun than my leaf blower.  I'd like to have a camera mount on my Tx so I could shoot and control at same time. I held a little Kodak…"

Phil Cramer replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter 2.8 / 2.8.1 released
"Dror, that's a good idea. I will try it. Another option would be to switch the rudder and aileron sticks so roll is on the left and yaw on the right. Nah... too weird. I'll try mixing.  Steve, aileron and elevator aren't my…"

Phil Cramer replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter 2.8 / 2.8.1 released
"I'm a fifty year veteran of RC plane flying and I'm used to turning by rolling (banking) then using 'elevator' to make the turn. Steering with the left stick rudder is harder for me with my quad. So this Toy mode sounds really…"
