Hi Quadzi,

Haven't actually done anything with my RCTimer motors yet.

I am still contemplating an appropriate frame.

Thinking of Tarot quad, but bad reviews have me reconsidering.

Also others results with these RCTimer motors are mixed, not really very high quality (understandable for price).

I got them to research low KV slow pancakes with large propellers for efficiency and will probably still get a Tarot If I can't find anything bigger in that size class.

Best Regards,

Gary

I was planning to build a frame for these myself, as a first project when my shapeoko 2 arrives.
I hadn't considered a tarot frame, but it looks like an iron man 650 folding might lend itself well to an X8 conversion. Cheap too! What are your thoughts on this?
What bad reviews have you seen? What are the primary complains? (I assume you are talking about the tarot frame here).
I have read up about the 5010 360kv on rcgroups, and am unclear whether the updated changes to the shaft and fastening have addressed all concerns. I guess I will find out in the air.
Like you I am keen to play with some pancakes and large props in search of higher efficiency, and 8 RCT 5010 360kv motors with 16x6.5/17x5.5 props are certainly a great deal cheaper than 8 T-Motor U8s with T-Motor 29x9.5 props!

re: Shapeoko...enjoy tapping your maker extrusions...;-)

I'm impressed with mine - build quality is excellent, and there's zero play. The z axis is a bit stuff though, but since I plan to only cut CF up to 2mm, it's not a huge problem. I'm still doing "hello worlds", making sure it's all working ok before I start to cut (ruin???) CF plate.
