"Not going to buy a 2560 since I've pre-ordered two APM2 purple boards! But the wait is killing me! I take issue with the idea that "nothing can be removed" -- my 1280 worked great with logging just a few months ago (and had been doing…"

Don Brooks replied to Rick B's discussion Can't get "LOGS" command to work in CLI
"There really is nothing that can be removed. If there were, then I'm sure an option would be available instead of it being hardcoded to force logging disabled. A 2560 board is only ~60$, and all other addons remain the same. I just did mine…"

"Wow, this is disappointing. Guess I will go back to old firmware. There must be something that could be axed from the code in order to get logs working again."

"Isn't that why it's called "LOITER" and not "POSITION HOLD"? With GPS, you will always "wander" around a point, I think that's what the software guys set it up as so that you would loiter 5 meters around…"

"Get rid of the connectors and hard solder the wires together. This has fixed both my AC and a brushless buggy the kids got for xmas. It will take you 30-45 mins for an AC, but it was serious peace of mind for me. JC"

"Thanks for you help, I'm new to all this soldering stuff. So when you say to solder them to the wires from the motor, do you cut off the barrel connector on the motor or leave the barrel connector on and solder that to the bullet connector?"

"I use bullet connectors and they work fine. Just make sure you solder them! Dont play with them, SOLDER the biatches! Logic is the best problem solver. If the motor doesnt work, plug it into another esc. If the motor still doesnt work, its the…"

"I personally would just take out the motor and try it by itself... With that, you will know the answer pretty much... Meaning, if the motor doesn't work by itself then that is the problem... If the motor does work, then you have more to…"

Help diagnosing engine problem

I have jrdrones ArduCopter Quad with ArduMega1280, 20A ESC, 880kv motors, sonar. Using the 2.1.0 Alpha software.I have just got it flying for the last month or so, and have flown it a few times with increasing success, total time about 30 minutes.A few days ago, was flying in STABALIZE mode and was able to move around pretty good for 5 minutes or so.I then switched to ALTITUDE_HOLD, and it worked well (+/- 1 meter) for a minute. Then the left engine (in plus configuration), dipped a few times,…See More
