"Yes. You cannot use the USB port at all (even just for power) if you want to use wireless telemetry. The onboard multiplexer will turn off the wireless port if it senses anything on the USB. "

"Even when the APM 2 is connected to another computer? (I'm not questioning your input I just really have no idea). We're working on getting a battery, in the meantime would it be safe to use a wall outlet AC adapter such as for a cell…"

"If you're using APM 2, please note that you can't use wireless telemetry when the USB cable is plugged in (they share the same serial port). If you're using APM 1, you can.  "

Telemetry problems

I've been trying to use the manual and search Jean-Louis's blog but it seems like there's not enough information on the manual and too much information hidden all across the internet.I'm hoping when I'm done to post my detailed exploits with the Ardurover 2 because I started in May not knowing this even existed and now I'm almost doneMy xbee is soldered, connected to the APM which is connected to a random laptop (because I  haven't gotten a separate battery yet). The other half of the xbee is…See More

"Okay okay I see where I was confused. In my mind I just needed to use the standard 8.4 NiMh battery to plug into a BEC to plug into the APM to power EVERYTHING. But Unless I'm (still) mistaken the battery needs to power the ESC. And I need a…"

"I've got a simple question. My ESC has a BEC rated at 6v 1a and it seems to be able to power my APM2 board and outputs. I know 6v is a little high but is there a real difference between 5 and 6?"

"Hey DIY community,  I'm getting near the final stages of setup for my APM Rover using the Traxxas Stampede. I've been reading through the comments and doing some internet research, but I'm still not 100% on how the BEC connects.…"

"DIY community,   Working on ArduRover v2 with APM2. I have the ArduRover2 code loaded on the APM2 and I connected the servo motor to Out1 and the ESC to Out 3. I'm still waiting on servo cables to connect the receiver to the inputs. But…"

"Hello again DIY community, I understand that to control the ArduRover2 you need 3 to 4 channels. I was wondering if I can use a 2-channel radio (I know not very ideal) and use an Xbee system to control the mode and options (ch 7 & 8)? The plan…"

"  Woo Okay as of the time of this posting I have it compiled and I'm currently uploading ArduRoverV2 to my APM2 board through Arduino 1.0.1. @Nishid Thanks to Nishid for the step by step instructions, that's what I did originally but…"

"To anyone who can help, This is probably a silly mistake on my part but I'm still stuck at uploading the "ArduRoverV2" firmware to my APM2. I've used Arduino 1.0.1, Arduino 22, and Arduino relax_patch. I run in administrator. My…"
