"Yes, I think the problem was being caused by the simulation firmware I had uploaded to the APM, so that I could run HIL with XPlane 10. In sim mode, the APM won't arm unless the link to the sim is good. On mine it wasn't, due to some UDP…"

APM 2.5 won't arm in Mission Planner

Hi All,So my APM 2.5, which was arming and which I had configured nicely only last week, now won't arm in mission planner and can't be configured. Weirdly enough, though, when I hit the connect button MAVLINK has no problem getting all of the values it needs, then shows "connected".The only thing that's changed is the recent Mission Planner update(s). What is going on here? I can't even load firmware now because when I try the APM just disconnects.Any Ideas?MartinSee More

"Thanks for the reply. Turns out the APM 2.5 only runs off USB 2.0 ports, at least on my laptop."

"Hi, I used to have an AOM2 that did the same. Suspected hardware problem and replaced the ATMegaU8. That solved it. You should of course not have to do that with a brand new one! Sounds like a warranty case to me (if you can't get it to work on…"

APM 2.5: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Hi,I received my APM 2.5 a couple days ago and followed the instructions to install mission planner here. Windows didn't locate the drivers automatically so I went to device manger, which shows Arduino Mega 2560 (COM7) with a yellow symbol next to it. I locate the drivers manually (Arduino MEGA 2560), and the following error code pops up: Device status: "This device cannot start. (code10)".I have found two…See More

"Your fan will be operating at a reduced pressure and probably burn out the motor. Fans need to accelerate a lot of air to create thrust. It won't be able to draw it in fast enough. It may greatly reduce fuselage drag, but at what cost?…"

Hi all,

I've only recently become part of the diy drones community and already I've learned a lot about amateur UA operations.

As my first contribution here I thought I'd share a design that I put together this morning based on some old research on laminar flow shapes.

It's a bit different. The fuselage here is a low drag shape developed by Fabio…
