Multiple drones and multiple operator support in U[g]CS

Here is footage from software showing our software capability to simultaneously plan and execute mission with 3 different drones. Arducopter, Microdrone MD4-200 and Mikrokopter were used.

As we support at this moment Arducopter, Mikrocopter, ArDrone, Microdrone this demo can be interesting at least for professional users of…

Thanks Alexey...  and good luck with your latvian farmers.

We carry a modified Canon PowerShot A810 (with standard lens) for the NDVI imagery.  We fly the same mission with another "unmodified" A810 to capture the 16 mp images.

We use Kolor's AutoPano Giga for stitching the images and process the NDVI with a plugin on ImageJ software.

For small crop acreage using our Y6 frames, we have found that 170feet altitude and 17mph speed provides the best stitching image resolutions desired while still leaving plenty of battery life for a safe return to home.  Our flight program triggers image captures by distance covered (and not triggered by way points) and we have flown this configuration in varying direction 20mph winds without loosing images because we exceeded the PowerShot A810 2.5 second refresh rate.

At some point, we hope to be able to afford using (and risking, if you know what I mean) modified cameras with a much larger sensor area (like a Sony Nex 6).  This would allow us to fly lower and/or faster with the same resolution.

We will stay with the cheaper cameras for now because satisfy requirements.  We are starting to test using our Skywalker's (1900 mm motorized gliders) for larger acreage surveys.  With these we have greater flight times, but the challenge is how to fly slow enough and low enough.

As you must know....   it is a continuous learning experience while trying to balance the costs, etc.

I hope this was somewhat helpful.

Thanks Mike,

could you tell also is GSD important for NDVI calculation?

hi, there, I have seen a picture from power line inspection.

that was very clear and low noisy.

I want to know about your flight plan. the height, ortho imaging or oblique,

the distance from power line axis and the coverage of images(side coverage and along coverage). i tried that and have processed my data with pix4d but the result was not as the same as your pictures.

At 1:35pm on December 10, 2015, Alexey Dobrovolskiy said…

Hi,

as I remember it was ortho, altitude over line about 10 meters, distance from power line axis about 10 meters too.

And we make too much photos, processing time was about full day and night, but quality was perfect.

thank you so much, by the way, can i ask you about your camera type.?

sorry one more question.

i want to know about number of flight path in direction of power line.

i guess it must be two. with 10 meters distance from both sides of power line.

if its more please tell me.

yours truly

Alexey, I do not have any trust worthy data for Greenland. My translation for my data in Alaska is off, it should put me in Alaska, but is putting me in Greenland, Africa, or the middle of the Pacific depending on which projection of WGS84 I use. I am trying to figure out the proper projection that UgCS is using so my data from Alaska is where it belongs, in Alaska. Thanks!
