About Me:
I have over 20 years experience with electronics and the last 13 of those have been with Microprocessors and Microcontroller's. I decided to have a go with RC planes which I have always wanted to do. Having combined the two hobbies I'm now gettting into drones. I've also started to get into amature radio and have made many usefull modifcations to my GCS setup based on what I've learned on the radio courses.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I'm not really trying to develop a fully automated system because I enjoy flying the planes myself. I would prefer to develop a good ground station system with an autopilot on the the airframe to take over flight if I need a break or in case of communications problems. My dream system would be to develop a cockpit similar to what those flight sim guys develop but controlling my uav from it instead of flight sim. it's not extactly portable but could be a lot of fun.

Thanks James,
If you have a copy of the code for the PIC to replace the Pololu I would like to see it.

I was going to run the the signal used to switch on the red led on the Pololu over to the reset pin on the pololu to see if it would be an option to reset it,it might not like it on a power up .

I Thought about the same thing but it always seemed to go back to the red light if it was restarted whilst data was be sent to it. it's a shame because the pololu unit is really small so it would have been ideal.

James if you send the files to above email it would be good.
I dont know how to send emails internally within the diydrones site.
I might try use the red LED signal to reset the XBee aswell, that would stop data transfer ,it would be a a timing between issue then between the resets.

I have not tried the software, when I get around to it I will use the timer interrupt section of it.
I beefed up the power supply to cut down on interference..
I had been running the setup on a bread board with linear regulators.
I got 2 switching regulators and have them running off the main battery.
One regulator for the servos and one regulator for the rest of the electronics.
I need to run this in now to see if it has reduced the chances of lock up on the pololu.
I will still need to setup a new serial servo controller anyway.

I saw on your page you had easystar(or something like it)
I decided to get one myself to use for flight testing, too much time and effort in the larger model to see it plough a field.
Plus I need to learn how fly........so far I have crashed and burned on cheap foam rc plane.

Hi James. thanks for dropping in the mail. I live near Pilling Sands, Knott end. Perfect for test flights on a calm day which we have had for three days so far. If interested give me a shout.

Not yet started due to funds. the company l worked for collapsed in Jan, not been able to find a suitable position and now just started basic aeronautical engineering. I have a glider with a 1.8m wingspan, electric engine and heavy NiCad 7.2v 1800ma battery which l can chage to a poly battery to save weight. had it for 8 years, the rest of the squadron have crashed over the years.
