"Is it possible to connect directly to the GPS using pogo pins and hook those to the FTDI?  I suppose it might be best to erase the firmware from the 2560 first otherwise it is going talk to the GPS on boot up and might not allow it to work…"

Profile Information

About Me:
I've been working in IT before finishing High-school, which looking back is now around 25 years. Programming was one of the first things I ever took up, spending many a day back to back coding hundreds and thousands of lines of BASIC. I am now a National IT Manager for a large retail chain, and my interests haven't wained.
Tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I've been flying R/C planes and choppers avidly for about 10 years now, and for the past 5 have been fiddling with on-board cameras, from 2.4Ghz to GoPros (before they became the ONLY camera every one seems to use, seriously don't you just see it everywhere on News Media...?) I had been given my first glider around 25 years ago, and started designing a UAV going back around 20 years ago, whilst still in high school learning everything I could about Aerodynamics (in a world which at the time had No Google.) I have steadily built parts for airframes over this time, but each time we have moved house bits and pieces get damaged and I have to start again. Which is where I am now - ready to start afresh with bold new plans and ideas.
