MikeRover commented on Felix Meissner's blog post New Project: Implementing Autopilot Control in a Hybrid 4WD RC Mulcher
"You'll probably need RTK to get the path accuracy you need. It would be preferable to have an infrastructure system (internet subscription-type service) to save you the hassle of having to survey in each site.

Compass calibration will be a…"

"Is it possible to use a pass-through header and indicate which pins are unused (if any)?"

"What are you setting your baud rates to?  Are you actually getting a useful link through the relay?
Were you able to set the retries to 0?  I could only set it to 1. "

MikeRover replied to Al Jones's discussion How to improve steering on farm tractor/rover/Pixhawk in ArduRover User Group
"If it's steady in MANUAL mode, then that looks like your Pololu is pretty well configured.  You were doing some nice slow movements. See if it oscillates if you do some fast short-travel oscillations (like the Pixhawk is commanding it to do).

3.7s…"

MikeRover replied to Al Jones's discussion How to improve steering on farm tractor/rover/Pixhawk in ArduRover User Group
"Hi, what's your steering actuator - is that off the shelf?
I'm far from an expert on the tractor side, but here are a few thoughts. Also, I don't know your background so apologies if any of this is telling you how to suck eggs.
1) What's the mapping…"

MikeRover replied to Alex Buckley's discussion Safety Switch Response Time
"I think you would be better off using your safety button directly on the power / motor circuit. If you're worried about safety, you want the least possible software involvement.

Having the normal arming process take 2 seconds seems reasonable, but…"

MikeRover posted a discussion in Pixhawk 2 User Group
Just noticed that the "GPS of choice" for the Pixhawk 2 now appears to be "Here", and that there's an RTK version.  Is there any doco on these?  In particular the RTK?

MikeRover commented on Chris Anderson's blog post NASA simulates Phantom airflow
"Rob, the incoming air above the rotor is being drawn in from a larger area at a lower velocity than the air leaving the propeller - the streamtube contracts below the rotor so that you have constant mass flow but increased velocity.

The net result…"

MikeRover replied to dr0n3droid's discussion RoverWarning _No Brakes! A throttle nudge story. in ArduRover User Group
"Take this with a grain of salt - I haven't looked at the code in almost a year.
Hold sets throttle to RC_TRIM. That, in generally, wouldn't apply brakes but would depend on the ESC, usually it will just set you to "idle".

My understanding of ESCs…"

MikeRover commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Wired: "Why the US Government Is Terrified of Hobbyist Drones"

MikeRover commented on Simon D. Levy's blog post The Extended Kalman Filter: An Interactive Tutorial
"I disagree with Nikola - the proper notation is far easier to understand than arcane variable names written in a stream of pseudocode.  Matlab is perfectly valid and well suited for demonstration code.

If you want to see a C-coded Klaman Filter,…"
