Bad Gyro Health

Hi I am building new copter based on pixhawk 2.1 and here+ gps. It will be quite big octo but for now it’s quad with 15" propellers. I have mission planner 1.3.52 and copter firmware 3.5.5. When I am connected to mission planner from time to time I get message “bed gyro health”. It happening almost every time when copter is just laying on the desk and nothing is happening with it. I did accel, level calibration and compass calibration. This info showing only for 1-2 seconds and disappears. I…See More

Moving from Mikrokopter to Pixhawk 2.1

Hi I am starting to build new octocopter based on Pixhawk 2.1. I have few years of experience in building and flying custom Mikrokopter copters. All advices are welcome ! I am reading the ardupilot copter docs but that can be not enough. First build will be flat octocopter for testing with MK 3638 motors, Flame 80a ESCs, 12" propellers…See More

"There was a research paper floating around on the net that showed with a ~10% overlap, there was a ~5% increase in efficiency. Don't hold me to those numbers. It was something like that. Unfortunately I don't have the link anymore."

"Why not do some testing with the original prop in the original configuration versus the "up/down" configuration, everything else being the same? Not only will you have your answer, but come back here and let us know what the results were.…"

"Yes but that's bigger weight and much bigger price for batteries I think ??? Are they better than tattu ? Do you have any link ? Can I have 12000 or 15000 batt in the same weight as tattu lipo ?"

"In that case I suggest to switch to a different type of batteries , Sony Lion high C discharge , so you can go up to 20 minutes. "
