"Old thread I know... But yes....there should be a way to get warned that the aircraft will not have the climb/descent performance, or better yet to essentially guarantee that the aircraft will reach the waypoint altitude before moving on to the…"

"On motors/props I've personally tested on a net lift basis (it has to lift itself first), lower KV is on average more efficient.  I started testing in the 800 to 1100 range.  Now I don't waste my time searching for perfection…"

"On the efficiency of motors between 4S and 3S, that is all empirical test stand data (no equations).  It varies a little by motor, but all have the same basic trend.  So there is no math (besides comparing efficiencies in percent form).…"

"@Forrest Would you supply the math for the percentages? if any of these are calculated at 1%-2% for any idea then really the choice is mute and the advantage is negligible. At a 1%-2% calculated difference there are too many variances you would not…"

"It depends on your motors, flight load, and wiring. o Gate 1:  In 3S at the AUW you desire to fly, does the copter have enough lift at the end of normal battery drain to keep the copter in the air? If no. Then must go 4S. o Gate 2:  Is…"
