Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I'm really interested in the 'flying robot' concept. beginning with a jdrones Hexa, but ultimately plan to try a long distance flight with a petrol two stroke plane (CASA permitting of course)

Jesse commented on Todd Urban's blog post Can Your Frame Do This
"I'm impressed that you can get this kind of strength from a 3D printer!! I'd love to see one made from ABS however, I'd be concerned about the PLA going soft or deforming if the frame was accidently left in a hot car, or something like that..."

"That's pretty interesting! What did you use to print the frame?  (printer/filament type) "

Jesse commented on Robert's blog post UAV Battery Voltage Monitor Circuit (MegaPirateNG and others)
"May I just add: please be careful when building this kind of thing on veroboard as it is most definitely not designed to handle the amount of power that your average quad will draw (and it only gets worse for the bigger copters).  Make sure that you…"

Jesse commented on mykita paskov's blog post Phoenard: World's first all-in-one prototyping gadget as your Drone Controller?
"Given that I've already taken a run at creating a ground station with the AVR, I can tell you now that if you are going to attempt to use all of the peripherals on that board in addition to the LCD display, you'll promptly run out of clock cycles.…"

"@RocketMan, sure you could go with a better analyzer, no worries... then don't forget the Faraday cage, then some precision equipment to measure the transmission angles, so on and so forth...

beats the hell out of nothing, and does give a little…"

"I'm wondering if the design has potential as a VTOL plane structure... probably go a long way to keeping a light airframe stable in wind when landing."

Jesse commented on Gerard Toonstra's blog post Redesigning multirotor ESC's
"this is a fantastic idea, I'd love to see these developed to work alongside the AP platforms!   it's been quite a while since I've looked at any of the code, but would it be feasible to run a bunch (say up to 12) of these via I2C?  "

Jesse commented on Winfried Rijssenbeek's blog post Update of the man drone project
"@Sean, some kind of impact absorbing undercarriage and a much stronger safety cell around the pilot should be considered mandatory.  I'd also say that a more reliable system than timing belts would also be mandatory, partly because they can break in…"

Jesse commented on Winfried Rijssenbeek's blog post Update of the man drone project
"personally I try to be supportive of new projects, but there's no way on earth that you'll pass air safety regulations.  timing belts just wont cut it.  if one snaps during takeoff, landing or low level flight then there is no way you'll avoid a…"

Jesse commented on Greg Dronsky's blog post Footbal match stoped because of a quadcopter
"I've been thinking about this a lot of late.  I believe the problem is basically what Matthew said; if people had to put more time into assembling their equipment, then they'd be a little more concious of the damage that it could do if something…"
