I'm in Australia so 900MHz is illegal.
The only 5.8 GHz combos I've found being from blip and they are about 3 x as pricey as the Xbee 2.4 GHz telemetry from DiyDrones.

One week ago i purchased a ArduPilot from CoolComponents in the UK. Along with FTDI cable and Shield (with airspeed sensor). I am powering the AP from a Futaba R607FS 2.4Gz receiver and controlling it via a Futaba FF9 with Futaba TM-7 2.4Gz mod
in ur opinion what is popular/typical project can be done..
* camera helicopter , real time video transmitt (eye in sky)
* temp, wind , humidity , GPS sensor
