I'd bet that the ESC which beeps, is the one that usually is supplying the APM with electricity.
When you connect the USB to the APM, you're feeding the APM with +5 volts, the same voltage
will travel back to the ESC and hence booting it up.…"

"The best way would be to buy a BEC, as this will prevent brownouts on the APM during hefty servoaction.
I've go for a 6v instead of 5v, as this gives you a quicker servo response. (Just check that your servos can handle it)
