"The problem isn't that we can't use these simulators. If you read through the chat logs on Gitter, you'll see that the problem is more with the timing issue ruining things for us. For the hobbyist, just about any simulator will do.…"

Sensor Fusion for ArduPilot Academic Research

Hey all. I am looking for any combination of assistance or colaboration in a project of mine I am planning to start. I am an Aerospace Engineering graduate student who is starting to plan out my project for academic research (Special project -> PhD Thesis). My interest involves using systems engineering algorithms to further advance the use of sensor fusion in UAVs for various missions such as object avoidance through urban areas (GPS unavailable/low-light/manueverability).The idea is that…See More

Pixhawk Octocopter Startup Error - ch_out for some motors lower than others

Hello All,I am working on a project this summer which was my senior project from this past year.  It is a medium octa-quad copter using a Radiolink .  I am using Mission Planner to read telemetry data and flying it manually using Taranis X9D Plus and FrSky x8R receiver.  There is an error which has now occurred twice to the system which prevents it from taking off the ground.  I am very confused about this since I was able to fix it once (which it appears whatever I did was not what truly fixed…See More

Pixhawk to Arduino Communication

Hey guys.  I am working on a drone project in which I am trying to run various systems on a payload with an arduino, yet I want to send the information to the arduino through the Pixhawk.I am using the Frsky Taranis Plus and the X8R Receiver.  I am using SBUS to send 16 channels from the X8R to the Pixhawk.  It is receiving all 16 channels. My lack of knowledge in serial communication and specifically MavLink is restricting me in figuring out how to utilize these channels and pass it on through…See More

Quadcopter Frame Setup

This is my first quadcopter build and it is for an engineering project. We need a quadcopter that is atleast on the mid-size level, possibly large-size scale. How would experienced drone makers go about deciding on the frame? If our frame limits are ability to include things on the drone should we design and build our own? Where would you be able to have an engineering frame custom manufactured? Or are there enough options out there to find one that will work?
