Unlike my plane, when RX (PPM) loses signal, or is disconnected from APM - then the APM just freezes last RC input values, and so, fails to detect connection loss.
Just setup Windows 8 - some neat stuff, a bit of a learning curve. Unfortunately, Mission Planner came up just fine, but I could not get Mega2650 drivers to load so there is no connection. So, before you do a one way upgrade, be careful.

When I view log files in Google Earth, sometimes the start and stop points are on, or very close to, the ground. Other times those points are raised well above ground level as seen in the screen shot below. I can't figure out why this is happening
Hi, when I connect to the mission planner the apm board is showing a 3D GPS lock but the aircraft symbol is not shown on the map and I'm unable to set home etc. This is happening on all the versions of the planner that I try and use. Any ideas? All
Can anyone tell me if I should change my hexacopter motor angles to try and increase yaw authority? I'm sure I have read somewhere that 3deg one way for the CCW motors and 3deg the other way with CW motors can help.If anyone has had success with this
