Josh replied to Nigel Brown's discussion Y6 with the shakes in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"I had the same issue with an APM 2.5 I borrowed. The problem went away when I replaced it with a Pixhawk (possibly not the most helpful answer sorry!)."

Josh replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"Yep, good call. I'll be doing the same."

Josh replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"Oh, thanks Rob! I did suspect that but couldn't find anything online about it and didn't want to fly without knowing. Legend."

Josh replied to xoltri's discussion Pixhawk causing motor sync issues.
"I think I'm noticing a similar problem. I hooked up my Pixhawk over the weekend for the first time. I can calibrate my ESCs fine. When I hold the safety switch and arm it for the first time, throttle behaves as expected.

It's when I then disarm…"

Josh replied to Jim Townsend's discussion Where does this 3DR Hex connector go?
"If you have a 3dr power module, that cable is redundant.
It's 5v when I measured it, so assume it was powering the apm at some point. Perhaps just an evolutionary relic?"

Josh replied to Joe Hobbs's discussion Newbie needs help on getting Y6 to fly in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"I'm using a Frsky D8R-II plus receiver and a http://www.frsky-rc.com/product/pro.php?pro_id=22 and a DJT transmitter http://www.frsky-rc.com/product/pro.php?pro_id=8 connected into a 9XR.

You can ensure your signals into the APM are correct in…"

Josh replied to Joe Hobbs's discussion Newbie needs help on getting Y6 to fly in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Yep. It's a bit shaky when in ground effect. You learn over time to get it off the ground quick (once you have confirmed the sticks are doing the right thing)."

Josh replied to Joe Hobbs's discussion Newbie needs help on getting Y6 to fly in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Hey Joe, have you done everything on http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/initial-setup/ ?
More specifically, calibrating the accelerometer? http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/configuring-hardware/

Also, check the blades are facing the right way…"

Josh replied to Flying Buddha's discussion Motor Not Spinning - Bad Power Board Distribution in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"You can plug 'em right into your receiver as well if need to. Yellow channel 3 is usually throttle. Please remove your props first."

Josh replied to Flying Buddha's discussion Motor Not Spinning - Bad Power Board Distribution in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Yeah, unless they have been hot glued those wires are a ticking time bomb. Had two of them pop off during my first build before it was even in the air."

Josh replied to Craig P.'s discussion Modding tiny holes in 2013 frame for ESC placement on rear like 2014 model. Good idea or Bad idea? in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Nice. What battery and resulting flight times do you get on that?"

Josh replied to Craig P.'s discussion Modding tiny holes in 2013 frame for ESC placement on rear like 2014 model. Good idea or Bad idea? in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"The plate is fibreglass and can be cut easily with a cheap dremel tool from your local hardware warehouse. I've used the 561 bit to drill holes and cut chunks out of it. Don't cut too much out :)

I had to lose the deans on the pdb to get enough…"

Josh posted a discussion in Arducopter Y6 Owners
Have any 2013 Y6'ers converted to the Y6B prop config? I'm wondering if it's been tested with APM 2.x or just PX4 and what sort of efficiency gains there might be. Looked at it last night but it looks like I'll need another small pusher and large…

Josh replied to Jaime's discussion Power Distribution Board cable issues. in Arducopter Y6 Owners
"Didn't think of hot glue. Good advice. Ended up resoldering the whole board after both the APM power cables and a couple of the control wires came off during installation."
