Nigel Conliffe commented on Wattas's blog post Getting six fly modes on Futaba T10CAG transmitter
"Outstanding!!!
Thank you -- saved me a lot of pain.  I'm still not quite sure what I did, but it works!"

Nigel Conliffe commented on CyborgCNC's blog post New Heavy Lift QuadCopter Frame from HH
"I ordered one (probably should have ordered two or three given my luck in flying).
When it comes, I'll post pictures and editorial comments"

So it's changed a bit from what came in the original box...Now got the long legs on the copter, and the two-axis camera mount and a camera, so I can show everyone that Ican't fly very well...Some points on this airframe that are going to serve me…

Nigel Conliffe replied to Ruwan's discussion Where could I fly my quad?
"I've been in the AMA for a few years. This gets me insurance when I fly it, and means I can take my helicopter down to the local flying field and meet fellow enthusiasts/play with the other kids.  Not heard any unusual whining about a…"

Nigel Conliffe commented on Jani Hirvinen's blog post ArduCopter Factory update: December 2011
"Thanks, Jdrones team.  I am another happy customer.  Nice to see faces to go with the URL.
Appreciate all your hard work, and look forward to buying more stuff."

Nigel Conliffe replied to Marc Dantonio's discussion 360 degree collision avoidance using the Maxbotic Ultrasonics...
"Interesting.  I've been thinking of doing this by having a separate Arduino acting as a sensor decoder/multiplexor/thinker.
The idea being that the collision avoidance/"where am I?" low-level stuff is handled by a dedicated processor which…"

Nigel Conliffe commented on Jordan Fryar's blog post Disconnect Motors During Setup!!!!! (WARNING: GRAPHIC!)
"Ouch!  Hope you feel better soon.  May the helicopter gods accept your blood sacrifice...

Seriously, thanks for being brave enough to post about your "dumb move" so the rest of us (err, rest of them...) can learn from the mistake and see why all…"

Nigel Conliffe replied to Christopher Cooper's discussion Sonar cable shielding question
"So related to this, where's a good place to buy shielded 3 or 4 core cable?  I suppose I can repurpose old cat-5 cables or something, but I hate just destroying things.

I've been poking around online, but my choices seem limited unless I want to…"

Nigel Conliffe commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Awesome manned electric multicopter takes off, crashes
"But the important question is:  Will the kit be available through diydrones.com/store ?

I have to tell you Brad, I'd take it up for a flight.  Well done indeed :)"

Nigel Conliffe commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Awesome manned electric multicopter takes off, crashes
"Might I also suggest a master power off switch (aka The Big Red Button) at least at first.

Another trick I've seen when testing experimental helicopters is to chain it down, with about 3' - 6' of "play".
This lets you get it off the ground,…"

Nigel Conliffe replied to Matt Gaige's discussion 2.0.39 Available
"Where are you finding 2.0.39?
All I see here http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/downloads/list  is .38

(pf course, by the time I write this, some clever person will have updated the download page and I'll look like an idiot.  Again.  :) )

Nigel Conliffe commented on Nigel Conliffe's blog post It flies! It flies! First Flight!
"This is the first stage of a longer project.  This was the first flight of the airframe.
This is just Arducopter 2.0.35 code (soon to be upgraded to .38) running on a new airframe with GPS, magnetometer, etc.  Further (for now) the 'copter is flying…"

Nigel Conliffe replied to Nigel Conliffe's discussion 72 Mz and ArducopterNG (1.54)
"Making progress here.

It's not the radio.  Sorry, chaps.  I found a radio diagnostic and ran it, which worked fine.

By adding various print statements, I see that what happens is that the main loop starts, reads the radio, reads the GPS and…"

I've got a JR XP7202 which is a 7 channel 72MHz Tx.On the 'copter, I've got a JR 790.  They talk using sPCM. Works great in the CLI, but not in "flight" mode (whatever non-CLI mode is).I've found a method/function call (APM_RC::GetState() ) which…
