Looks like it's possible to desolder the 6 pins (actually only 4 are soldered), and make an extension harness.

I have APM 1 with processor 2560. When i just power the APM board with RX pins connected the PPM encoder is blinking ( working condition). But when i put the IMU shield on APM, the PPM encoder is solid blue. And RX values are zero.

On initial bootup, GPS gets a 3D fix, and the altitude is correct on apmplanner.
