Does the DIY Drones magnetometer when incorporated with APM 2.XX actually assist in the navigation equations during low ground speed operations or is it strictly used for GCS/OSD mag heading displays.
I am a final year masters student studying Aerospace Systems Engineering the the University of the West of England. I am currently using the UDB V3 for my final year thesis in order to develop a flight controller for a small UAV.
Can anyone help me with solutions on controlling blade tip speed?
I used a calculator that Mr. Schmid recommended (http://www.ecalc.ch/helicalc_e.htm?ecalc) and finally found a combination that may work for the weight I want to lift.
So we have designed a pusher-prop UAV with a balsa frame. We are using a foam wing that was scavenged from a puller-prop airplane kit (the design files of the frame are posted at https://github.com/ssayer/Open-UAV in SketchUp format). The components
Hello team,Thanks for all the support thus far on building my first arducopter.Yesterday, I had finally completed the frame, uploaded the recent ArdupiratesNG code, calibrated my ESCs, checked motor directions, calibrated the TX through configurator,
Im wondering what the difference between "Home" location is compared to "RTL" location. Does the aircraft return to where I hand launch or the location of home?

Hi, i got my ardupilot today. Soldered everything together loaded the code and hooked up a em-406 module i already had. i ran through all the tests on the APM software and everything worked perfectly, even the GPS (i thought i might have trouble with
I have noticed that most people are talking about a flight time (or mission time) for a Quadcopter in the range of 30 minutes. If I want to increase the flight time, it is not as simple as doubling or tripling the batteries. Additional batteries mean
I would like to ask if someone can give me advice what I'm doing wrong when APM won't log me anything. In the CLI I first erased all logs and then enabled them by command enable all. After flight (around 15 minutes, GPS and APM had home locked) CLI t

I have been having an issue getting GPS lock on the IMU. I have been able to get GPS lock in the past but when i started up ardupilot today, the GPS light on the IMU doesn't even come on and start blinking. Anyone know any reasons why this may be?
When in the initial configurator screen all of my values respond as I move the copter around. When I go to the screen where you move the receiver controls, the roll does not change. I decided to test out the quad by taking it an inch or two off the g
Having decided to give APM a try as opposed to my usual MK or KK Fight control system. I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a ready made code loaded and tested APM from udrones. OK, so when I had it nicely installed in one of my quad models,
