About Me:

Mobile-to-Machine solutions developer (Java ME, Android, iPhone, IO controllers, etc.) Previously 28 years as Ericsson / Sony Ericsson development engineer, enbedded systems and Java in mobile phones. Now taking fate in own hands with my mobile-to-machine solutions company, see http://mobimation.com My ArduCopter specs are: Commercial pre-soldered kit ArduCopter first batch #42, running Alpha RC1 with GPS, pampered with Magnetometer and XBee serial link..

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I remember watching the older guys fly RC models in summers back in the 70´s and I always wanted to get into it. My only experience back then was within 5 seconds of first flight crashing my control line stunt model that had an all too powerful O.S glow engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_line Here we are 35 years later. I recently picked up realizing this teenage dream to master RC flight control. I got some Phoenix simulator mileage now. I´ve quickly ended up with six RC planes in different states of assembly and associated field gear, without even having flown any of them yet. I own an AR.Drone with 30 seconds flight time so far, I will explore mobile phone interaction with UAV´s as time comes :) UAV is cool because it gives a great hands-on insight into accomplishing stabilizing features not present in traditional wing based RC models.

Hello I was a way from the Arducopter scene for a lengthty period. I still kept the Arducopter 1 with its brittle plastic landing gear and original hardware that I would want to see in the air again. I took it out of service in 2011 after I bent one…

My experience with these (on gen 1 ArduCopter) was intermittent bad connectivitythat resulted in intermittent motor glitches. By soldering up the connectors solidthe…"

"Provided that a model would exist that would screw onto the body of the outrunner motor this type look reassuring:

Then axle slip would not be an issue.
Maybe that is for bigger motors ?"

Gunnar Forsgren mobimation.com replied to chris g's discussion Which board did I damage?
"If you have those bullet connectors between ESCs and motors, make sure to check they all have good contact.
In my case I found several of them were rotating freely also when mated, causing bad electrical contact. I soldered them up solid."

Gunnar Forsgren mobimation.com replied to ARHEXA's discussion Balancing props
"Did you make sure the center hole of the propeller has the same diameter as the motor axle ?
Some propellers come with spacers that you need to install to make sure they center as intended.
Otherwise you could get very bad imbalance."

Getting moisture into things accentuated an issue with the bullet connectors that connect ESCs to motors.
