About Me:

I've been building robots and devices with embedded controllers as a hobby for a few years now. I've built a snellflight quadcopte, added night lighting, video cam, and soon a laser that will get triggered from my momentary toggle switch on channel 6. I finally got my APM 2.0 board! Parts to build a largeer quadpod with 4 30A ESC and motors that need it :) I think I'll need at least a 3200ma 3cell Lipo for a 20 minute flight. Once this baby is flying I'll start saving for a gopro hd cam.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I've built gadgets that use embedded controllers for a while. I think the hobby UAV is pretty cool, and the fact that there's an open resource that we can can use and contribute to is awesome! I'm hoping to build a quadpod heavy lifter, when I finally get a trunigy 9 channel radio I'll add a remote claw to the APM 2.0 to grab, lift, and place objects. I'm also looking forward to building a marine uav with my sons.

Jerry Normandin replied to Jerry Normandin's discussion I upgraded a stable flying APM 2.0 quad running ArduCopter 2.7.3 to 3.1.3 and introduced a wobble
"Update...the new firmware is buggy on APM 2.0.    I got tired of dealing with 3dr and switched to a multiwii pro. Cheaper.  Much cheaper.plus can run multiwii, ardupirate, and arducopter

It is very stable."

Jerry Normandin replied to Mathieu's discussion Quad + Pixhawk used to get along great - Now Quad is wobblig like crazy
"Good screen shots.  adjust the pitch/roll rate 30% of the way to the right and test again.

I had the same problem with the default settings... but this is something  you need to adjust.
Also if it helps I have to adjust this when I switch prop…"

"Andrew,   I have a quadpod too and I am about to swap out the flight controller for a multiwii 328P board.
Do you have a config file you can share ?
I also like flying the quadpod in the yard... flying with the standard controller is kind of tough.…"

"Thanks!  That makes sense.     I adjusted those values back when I was running 2.7.3 but I didn't have a wobble then, it was a slower wobble so it was more like a drifting circle.

I'll try it.. right now I need to rebuild my quad.     crashed.  I…"

Hi guys.. I wonder of any of you have any ideas on how to reduce a wobble.  I went through all the steps as I did when I built the quad and installed firmware 2.7.3.  I'm attaching my flight logs hopefully someone can give me advice.  The wobble is…

Jerry Normandin replied to Randy's discussion ArduCopter 2.7.2/2.7.3 released
"I upgraded to 2.7.3 last night and  had a few good flights!  I noticed altitude hold is a lot more accurate.  It was a windy day today and I hovered over my house then  landed  in the backyard.   I was extremely surprised that  my sk450 based quad…"

Do you know when a replacement board will ship out to me ?"

"Yes.  When the configurator failed I tried to upload the test software with the Arduino IDE.    The IDE failed to contact the bootloader .  I got the sync error"

"I have the same error.   The configurator tool never worked.  I was never able to upload to the board.
The host I use is the same host  I use with my QuadCopter's APM 2.0 controller.  Everything works fine with that."

"Jani,  I just received my ioboard.  I have no bootloader activity at all.
It's DOA.  Can  I get a cross shipped replacement ?  Are there instances of xray devices at airports corrupting firmware ?  If that happened my package would have to be…"

All I get is the 5v power led lit when I plug my ftdi cable in.
Nothing more."

"Jani,
It appears my board is DOA.   Bummer.. I soldered all my headers in place.  I'm using the same host that I use to work on my APM 2.0 board.  I can not communicate with the board at all.  I checked it with  my oscilloscope it appears that it's…"

"Hi,  It appears my bootloader is not intact on my jd ioboard.  I wonder if the new xray equipment that's being deployed at airports is killing the firmware.    Jani the I bought the  ftdi cable from the JDRONES site.  I am using 57600 baud, com6.…"

"Jani,
When utililizing the JD Ioboard for mavlink->frsky conversion, is the board also parsing flight modes to control the leds ?  "
