"Its actually being done by a number of different people. Check out the "3DR Solo Brain Transplants" facebook page.
Somebody has created a PCB to attach the solo link to, which you then plug either a Pixhawk or Pixhawk 2.1 directly."
"A quick read here leads me to advise you to have a very good read of the ardupilot web site.
If you want to build a multirotor drone with semi autonomous capabilities, this is the best place to start. http://ardupilot.org/copter/
"Fair enough Alex.
How configurable are the outputs you can get? ie, can you get channel 1 to do something based on another channel, or can you implement expo?
I have a project that could use exactly this, as long as the configuration is there."
"The benefit of having an RC link as well as having a separate telemetry link is for redundancy. If you lose one, you'll still have the other.
If you only want to use one there are a number of options:
You can use a USB/bluetooth controller hooked up…"
"WOW! This looks awesome. Well done.
I like the fact that the radio control is a separate signal from the video and telemetry. Allows for redundancy, unlike the solo link which carries all the information on a single signal.
Has anybody used a solo link in a custom drone yet? I notice you can buy the cards for about $50 each. Then add a long range wifi card and you're in business.3DR has released the firmware and code for it I think?Rolling a HD VTx, Radio Control, and…
Im after some opinions on whats the best companion platform for streaming HD video, visual follow me, GPS follow me, and visual object avoidance.I'm not a developer in any sense of the word, so looking for a platform that's far enough along to have…
"This must be a real kick in the guts to the Pixhawk 2.1 dev team. I can't imagine how much time, effort and money has gone into developing the hardware to take the Edison, and now this. I'd be pretty gutted."
